D20 future, PL 7. The time machine in question is a time sphere, or whatever those little two person ones are called.

Why, to make humans funny looking, of course.

Or there's always the possibility of establishing yourself as ruler of all humanity at an early point in history, when there are very few to conquer and they have just achieved sufficient intelligence to take directions well. Why mess with history when you can usurp it?

It might help if we knew why they are evil (if you have a reason - but if motive suggested goal I doubt you would be soliciting opinions here anyway so perhaps it is a non-issue)

Funny, everyone seems focused on going BACK in time. Me, as an evil genius, I'd go foreward. I'd gather as much information as I can, so I could gamble and win on every lottery, sporting event, stock market boom and bust, etc. That'd set my evil empire up with finances for generations.

But going back only requires one trip. You already have all the information you need to do what you suggested if you go back.

Besides, everyone knows the future doesn't really exist. It's like the USA.

Travel far into the past, demonstrate your "godly" powers, and seed a mythology. Then hop forward many times (a few decades or centuries at a time) shaping society and advancing technology until you reach a point at which a highly advanced, technological society is awaiting the return of its prophesied leader (you). Then show up, rule the world and live in luxury.

Assuming one could go back far enough, to test certain assumptions about the properties of matter and space-time. Understanding how the universe *really* worked/works would be much easier to find out if the researcher was not stuck in th present. Armed with that knowledge, he could reshape the very fabric of reality!

He could accurately track evolution, and thus be able to influence it in the future....
