Soon there’s going to be a whole new way to play D&D! Announced today, Wizards of the Coast has partnered with DeNA, a global leader in mobile games, to create Dungeons & Dragons: Arena of War, the first ever Dungeons & Dragons mobile game.

Arena of War puts players in the Forgotten Realms for a battle roleplaying game that combines questing, character leveling, and small team collaboration with the most engaging mobile game mechanics on the market, such as in-game events and massive multiplayer competitions. The game is being developed and published by DeNA and it will be available on the company’s Mobage mobile social games platform later this year for Android, iPhone and iPad devices.

  • Doom Comes to Dustpawn is now available.
Mining and monsters—you won't need a diamond pickaxe, but you'll need to keep your wits about you with the latest Pathfinder Module!

With its rich ore veins run dry, the town of Dustpawn has had to turn to other pursuits to keep itself going. While goat herding isn't exciting, it certainly is stable, and in the aftermath of the Goblinblood Wars, the quiet is welcome, but that's all about to change. In Doom Comes to Dustpawn, a falling star has crashed near Dustpawn, and miners dust off their pickaxes in hopes of retrieving precious skymetals from the site. But witnesses say that it wasn't a star that fell: it was a ship, and with a strange malady afflicting the town, the PCs have to figure out what exactly is going on in Dustpawn! Written by Mike Welham, winner of the RPG Superstar 2012 contest, Doom Comes to Dustpawn was his winning entry, combining a love of 1950s science fiction tropes with our fantasy setting of Golarion. Also included in this adventure is a gazetteer of the town of Dustpawn, as well as a new creature template that's easily used no matter what world you're playing in!

  • You can check out an Exalted Primer on Onyx Publishing's website (Onyx is a studio which does work for White Wolf). It describes what Exalted is - "a fantasy roleplaying game intended ... set in the mythic prehistory of the world, a time when gods still walked openly among men, the world was flat, and the restless dead roamed on moonless nights."

  • Like the Dust games? Live in (or perhaps willing to move to) New Zealand? Know something about Social Media? If so, Battlefront Miniatures might have a job for you managing the internet presence of the Dust line of games they've taken over from Fantasy Flight.
  • This year's nominees for Spiel des Jahres have been announced. For those of you unfamiliar with SdJ, it is pretty much THE international award for board games. Yes, even more important than Origins. It is held each year at the Essen Game Fair in Germany and represents the best board gaming has had to offer over the last year. 2013 nominees include Augustus, Hanabi, and Qwixx. Awards are also given for children's games and 'Expert' games.
  • Future Proof is the sixth Datapack for Android: Netrunner as is currently being previewed on Fantasy Flight Games' web site. The preview features Darwin, an icebreaker, and the sentry, Flare. Future Proof is the end of the games Genesis Cycle and should be available soon.
  • Sometimes, metal minis can be a bit expensive. One company, Gamelyn Games, has come up with an idea to mitigate this. Wooden Fantasy Game Meeples. Designed in the style of meeples from Carcassonne, the Kickstarter project is currently on it's way with a variety of figures for both heroes and monsters in a variety of styles. With 27 days to go, they have just over $6k of their initial $9.5k ask.
  • Starlit Citadel has uploaded a YouTube review of the classic Uwe Rosenberg game, Bohnanza. It's about beans. And farming. And is, frankly, an excellent game.

Well, it's cool that they're going to be releasing a D&D mobile game, and I'll definitely check it out, but I'm an avid iOS gamer and, looking through their web page, I've never heard of a single one of theirs. So maybe "global" means "except in the English-speaking world" or something.

It sounds like another game that will have nothing to do with dnd except the name.

That sounds like D&D to me, and the screenshot they've got floating around shows a (really, really big) beholder.
