Excerpt: Eberron Player's Guide: Introduction

I'm suprised to see "(Of course, your DM always has the final word about what parts of the D&D game are allowed and not allowed in the campaign.)"

That one line deserves a whole article.

No, it was a full release, part of the Playing Warforged article (along with other paths, feats, etc)

Still a playtest. WotC made it quite clear at the time the "Playing Warforged" article was released that it was a playtest article, and that the Warforged race would be appearing in the Eberron Player Guide. It was also implied that all of the other Warforged crunchy bits in the article (paragon paths, feats, etc) would be appearing in the EPG as well.

The Warforged article was so popular, it spawned the later playtest articles in Dragon. Now it is a somewhat regular feature.

So I guess nobody noticed this:

You can create a character who could be found only in Eberron, using the new races, classes, backgrounds, and feats found in this book.

Thats classes - plural. What is going to be besides Artificer?

Or am I thinking too much?

I don't know. What unique class does exist in Eberron?

It could be multiclass-only classes, perhaps? Like the Spellscars in FR, it could be Dragonmarks?
If the kalashtar are one of the races in the EPH, it could be the soulknife class:

1. Soulknives were an important part of kalashtar culture in 3e, and were considered the equivalent of paladins.

2. Soulknives are possibly (likely?) psionic strikers and might be presented here to avoid a source/role overlap with the monk in PH3.

I don't know. What unique class does exist in Eberron?

Given that the only prior example of a class in a campaign setting was Swordmage in the FR Player's Guide, and the only one we know is coming is Artificer in the Eberron Player's Guide, I think it's pretty difficult to claim that [Campaign Setting] Player's Guide classes are unique to the setting. They may very well have a larger-than-normal role there, but it seems to me that there are definitely artificers in the Realms, and swordmages in Eberron.
