[sblock=Payne, Kyle]As soon as Payne turns her attention to the alcove (assuming you do take Kol's suggestion to search) she notices that one of the stone panels is detachable -- a door hidden by camouflage, with a handle inconspicuously cut out of the stone. If he joins the search, Kyle also notices it.[/sblock]

At Kol's suggestion, Payne steps into the alcove and looks around. Kyle, with his dwarven sense of stone, also takes a peek. They both immediately catch an inconspicuous "handle" in the stone. "That didn't look quite like the rest of the stone panels in the wall", Kyle explains. Payne takes a closer look. "If the builders hid the door, they could have booby-trapped it too". After looking it over, she concludes that it's safe. "Should we open it?" she asks the others.

Kol opens the door and finds it leads to an alcove off a hallway parallel to the one you're in. In fact... it leads to the long hallway you came in by.

"Just a shortcut." Kol announces slightly disappointed.

"Let's check out that light and beyond."

I'm sure there is a Buzz Lightyear joke in there somewhere....

Zurd, follows along with the greatsword hefted upon his shoulder...thinking to himeslf about life...and more and more death as well...

Lokin looks at the hidden short-cut.

"Well, that may be useful if we need to make a hasty exit."

The fighter pauses for a moment then smiles.

"I'm often thinking about retreat, aren't I? Must not make me look too courageous, I suppose. I just like to be pragmatic about such things. Anyway, we should look for other doors like this one. It might be how our enemy is able to out-manuever us."
