Extracting Poison from Vipers (Opinions Please)

Extracting Poison from Vipers
Using the Handle Animal skill you can extract the venom from a Medium Size or smaller Viper into a special tube. The poison immediately begins to lose its potency and will eventually not be useable at all. The larger the snake the more doses can be extracted in one day.

Tiny 1/day
Small 2/day
Medium 4/day

Handle Animal DC 15.
Check 10-15 fail to extract poison into tube.
Check 1-10 poison yourself while attempting to extract.

The DC of the poison is immediately reduced by 2, and further degrades by 1 for each hour out of the snake. When the DC is 5 or less the damage is 1d4 temporary Con. When the DC reaches 0 the poison is no longer usable.

Actually, that seems pretty good, although you should be specific as to what the vemon actually does. The effects should be identical to those given in the snake's description, though you could substitute ad-hoc poison. The poison does not necessarily have to effect constitution. The venom could be a neuro-toxin, effecting intelligence or wisdom, or could have detrimental effects to dexterity or strength.

Once extracted, the poison should be the same as right from the snake within one day after milking, and would reduce in DC more along the lines of 1/week, as snake venom keeps rather well. Once the DC equals 0, the venom becomes an anti-toxin to that particualuar venom, and can be used to grant an additional Fortitude save to resist or get rid of the poison's effect when introduced into the bloodstream(by whatever means desired i.e. needletip, knifepoint, or you could be creative and use it on an arrowtip to cure an ally on the other side of a battlefield, if need be.)

You'd probably want to account for viper familiars when dealing with these rules. Would you need a handle animal check at all or could a wizard/sorceror just ask the viper to bit the tube for you?
