Faerunian Warforged?

If you don't want FR in Eberron, have a one-way sphere.
Just make it the opposite of the roach motel.
The Warforged is a lone survivor of a small scout ship sent "far" ahead.

Dragon Disciple implies that they have dragon ancestors.... Half-dragon warforged? I guess so, with all their riches, dragons could afford really elaborate..... toys. :o

Mase BY dragons, huh? Now there's something we did not think of. IMC's the dragon disciple warforged have syberis dragon shards powering them.

I wouldn't do that. Part of the "core" of Eberron is that there are 13 planes, none of which are equivalent to either the Great Wheel or Faerunian cosmology. Moreover, in Eberron, the existence of divine beings is somewhat up in the air; having a Faerunian god show up would have ... weird ... consequences.

I have an idea that would allow the introduction of Warforged to Faerun without altering the core concepts of Eberron. Everron, as Patryn of Elvenshae, mentioned has a separate cosmology from that of Toril's "Great Tree" or Oerth's "Great Wheel." However, there was an event on Eberron that could have brought Warforged and other Eberron races elsewhere.... the destruction of Cyre.

In this recent event, an entire nation was devastated by an unknown magical effect. Possibly this magical effect could have thrown some Warforged, humans, shifters, and others from Cyre to other realities. This would allow the introduction of Warforged without much altering of any existing cosmologies or histories. Imagine the shock of characters from Cyre seeing their nation destroyed and being transported to the Realms or to Oerth. How would such characters react to this event? How would they react to their new world? How would natives of Toril or Oerth react to warforged, shifters, changelings, and kalashtar, along with more "traditional" races. How would the former inhabitants of Khorvaire react to worlds where the existence of the gods is a known fact? What would be the goals of the characters? Is there any way for them to return home? Do they find new allies or make new enemies?

Just tossing out a few ideas that will hopefully give DMs and players a few ideas.

I love all the great ideas that everyone has come up with.

It has been a few days and I thought I would bump this topic to see if there are any other ideas brewing. Thoughts?

Noticed this thread a bit late.

I've fully integrated warforged into my FR game - here's what I do (this is off the top of my head, based on my campaign material):

IMC, warforged were created (through arcane, golem creation-like methods - though their sentience was originally a mistake in their experiments) in Halruaa some hundreds of years ago, as a defence against the Arkaiun invasions (especially when the Arkaiuns sailed right up the gulf of Halruaa).

They are still fairly rare, though, and are used as special shock troops and independent scouts. The Halruaans now value the sentience of the warforged for their independent thought, though there is still unresolved debate to this day regarding the ethics of 'building' these sentient creatures. At least one (extremely powerful) wizard family/guild continues to build them against the regulations of the ruling power. Some warforged go rogue and desert the military/country, but this is considered as acceptable losses considering the warforged versatility (though not specifically "hunted down", they are considered fugitives just like any other army deserter). Depending when and how they were created (and by who), many are 'civilians', and work as bodyguards and the like.

(It's got a mix of Eberron backgrounds tied with FR history and locations.)

Has anyone written up any Thayan (or other Faerunian) Warforged NPC's yet? Please share some NPC's using this idea. Mostly looking for personalities & ambitions, but if anyone has fully stat'ed npc's/pc's I would love that as well.

Another great idea is to drop these into the NPC Wiki as well. I am sure everyone would appreciate the input.

Not sure how this would entirely work. See in my mind the soul encompasses our knowledge, the sum of everything we've learned. If someone goes this route, there would have to be some kind of purification/rejuvenation process, so as to make a new soul out of an old one. JMHO.

One OGL source uses a soul bind for a similar process. The young are used mainly due to cost, to ease the process, and due to the youngs ability to adapt quickly. If an older experienced individual is transferred, they retain mental abilities, skills, feats and class abilities (no racial abilities). However, they take a -4 to physical skill checks and attacks. This goes away at the rate of 1 per new level earned.

You could also go the modified reincarnate route. I'm sure there's at least one evil druid out there willing 'punish' the unworthy (for whatever reason) by taking away their afterlife to be used as slaves. The wizards may have killed them once they refined the process...

Given that there is a metal druid in a Dragon mag somewhere, the Forged could be reincarnated agents. Sentient, so they can think freely and newly 'born' so that their previous life does not conflict with their current goals (no family to see or protect). Smacks of 'RoboCop', but it is rather cool...

Perhaps this is pennance for something in their past. They committed a grievous crime in their previous life, and this new form gives them the life span they need to accomplish their goal while lessening the guilt and self loathing that may hinder them later (dreams ensure the motivation of the guilt; the Forged know their goal, but not neccessarily why until after it is completed).

I am going to stat a couple of generic Thayan warforged pretty soon (mostly low-level, with a few higher-level commanders), but I always stat my NPCs using my house rules, and they would not be 100% compatible with the SRD rules.

Great. HR or not, it would be great. When I get a little time I am going to stat some out, with Thayan PRC's just for some additional flavor. I may try to find some additional FR PRC's to add and see how they come out.

I may even try to create a special Thayan Forged Prestige Class. Anyone please share your thoughts for any PRC ideas especially for Faerunian Forged.
