I don't think Tom Hanks played a game called "Mazes and Monsters". He did however have a part in the gawd awful movie called "Mazes and Monsters."
 

Rivers Cuomo and the whole rest of the band Weezer are avid gamers--they play D&D on the road, and Rivers even used to give updates about his Baldur's Gate 2 progress on the band's webpage...

Their song "In the Garage" has several D&D references--12-sided dice, DMGs, etc.

On Inside The Actor's Studio, Mike Myers said he used to play D&D as a kid and his Saturday Night Live character Lothar of the Hill People was based on that.

The Barenaked Ladies used to play and may still. There is a picture of them fighting over the PHB on Sean Reynolds website. At least, I think it was on Sean's site...
