Fantasy characters in Modern London? (wasn't there a module?...)

Was there a old module that had the fantasy world PCs cross over into modern day London and have to try and recover an artifact from the British Museum?

What was it? and has anyone played it or anything similar?

ie your 'Fantasy characters' crossing over into the 'Real' world and pitting their swords and spells vs the Police and Army with their guns?

There may have been such a module.

5+ years ago in our regular campaign we came to modern times while searching for an artifact. We finally located it in a museum.

Unfortunately, I was unaware that it was a module, and I have no idea as to the module name.

I believe it was called "The Mace of St. Cuthbert" or something like that. The artifact was -- strangely enough -- the mace of St. Cuthbert. It was in Dragon...maybe an annual? That's all I remember.

There was a module for the Immortal Rules (the Gold Box set) for the D&D games. I rememeber it took place in New York and you had to steal something, perfume I think. I think it went all over the world. I might still have it. When I get home I will check to see.

I believe it was in Dragon #100.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It was an interesting read from what I remember. Never played it. :(

Cheers

Edit: Delayed a fraction and the trivia guru beats me! :)

The module was in Dragon #100, and was known as The Mace of St. Cuthbert.

I played Edena in that module. At that time, my oldest character (Edena) was a 9th level cleric.
We had a player character FROM Earth in the company.
So when Edena water-walked his way off the island in the middle of one of London's parks, that character made the ultimate protest: There is only one person who can do that!!

We got to see Dr. Who leave in his time machine.
We did NOT find copies of the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Player's Handbook or Dungeon Master Guide.
We also did not find the Mace of St. Cuthbert.

We tried again, with Edena and some different characters.
This time, one of our group (he was very high level and had powerful magical armor) decided to take on the English SWAT team.
He died (machine guns are harmful to your health.)
Edena broke into the morgue and threw Raise Dead on the fellow right there. Fortunately, the mortician was not around at the time ...
Again, we did not find the Mace of St. Cuthbert.

Edena tried a third time.
By this time, Edena had become accustomed to 20th century Earth, and somewhat acquainted with the modern concepts of this world.
Unfortunately, Edena was NOT acquainted with the Minions of Cthulu, and had the misfortune to make said acquaintances here and now.
His sanity survived (at least, he thinks it did.) He survived. He even managed to adapt to looking at them and not having his brains run out his ears from the sight (literally.) He had quite a number of nasty battles with these Elder Beings, before fleeing back to Alp Centaur.
And we STILL were unable to retrieve that stupid mace.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Anyone feel up to converting it into a 3E adventure? I'd love to give running it a shot, but I don't have nearly enough DMing experience to even think about converting it. Not to mention that I never played 1E either.

That Immortal adventure? It was called The Immortal Storm, and only one part of it is set in New York. You have to travel to Chicago to retrieve a perfume (after retrieving other items from other bizarre planes, including literally travelling through a symphony while talking to the notes), and because of the dimensional nature of the plane you're on, most of your godlike powers won't work. (This is quite standard for the setting, and reduces you to a being capable of flying without magic, stunning people with your mere presence, and lifting small buildings with one hand.) I never played it, but it looked fun.
