Fantasy Fiction and d20

Chaosium has put out some incredible stuff in the past, and some of their recent books rate just as highly as some of the old stuff.
Well, that's because a good chunk of it *is* old stuff, just reprinted. I've been a Chaosium fan since I picked up a copy of Runequest back in '81, but I think it's no secret that their glory days are behind them. I wish them the best, but I honestly wouldn't mind of a company with more business savvy (and ability to put out product on a concrete schedule) bought them.

As for the original question...

Ringworld (speaking of Chaosium) needs to be revised and expanded to a full-blown Known Space RPG, be it for d20 Future or some other system.

Orson Scott Card's Tales of Alvin Maker would, IMO, make a great RPG. I'm honestly surprised that no one has done this yet. Ridiculously interesting setting.

A beer n' pretzels RPG based on Asprin's Myth series would be fun, too.

That would be cool. I'd like to see Thieves' World come back to RPGs too. A d20 version would be sweet. I'm already excited-as-can-be about the Black Company d20 book.

I really enjoyed the first 4 books, but Heartfire was huge letdown. I haven't read Crystal City yet. I agree the books would make a very interesting setting, but the religious overtones that have been building throughout the series have made me kind of indifferent about finishing it.

Not fantasy, but...

On the science fiction (or science fantasy, actually) end of things, I always thought it would be fun to play in Brain Daley's Third Breath:

Requiem for a Ruler of Worlds
Jinx on a Terran Inheritance
Fall of the White Ship Avatar

Maybe when d20 Future comes out... ;)

I think you just inspired me to go dig those out of the closet and read them again. I *loved* those books back in college.

Well, we had a thread about the books we read and I was wondering what books people would like to see done up in d20 format. We've already had quite a few licenses in the stew. One thing I like about game books over the actual books themselves is that it's often easier to find information. Not too much a problem for settings like Middle Earth where they have their own Atlases, dictionaries ando ther books, but not every author has those advantages.
Well, I'd like to see a Wizard of Earthsea and Mercedes Lackey's Bardic Voices series turned into an RPG.

Although the holy grail should be the Harry Potter license. Once anyone turns Harry Potter into an RPG, our little hobby will have a huge influx of children wanting to play wizards and witches in training at Hogwarts.

However, I heard that J.K. Rowling won't have it because she won't have anyone else mucking around in her stories. :(

So where would you put something like Stephen King's Dark Tower? On a serious note, I was afraid I would die before he finished that series (May happen yet due to some fluke of the universe) but now that it's near completion, I feel that once again, this might be a setting to start tinkering with. With the numerous planes and dead planes or passed on planes they cross, has elements of Michael Moorcock and others in it. Very cool stuff.
