If WotC (or another publisher, for that matter) released a sourcebook with more detailed rules and flavor on the Far realms, would you be interested enough to buy it?

As long as it's written by Bruce Cordell, then absolutely, without question, and it would probably be the one WotC book I'd be looking forward to the most that entire calendar year.

Probably, but it would depend on the writing team and the approach taken. It's very easy to completely lose the flavor and appeal of someplace like the Far Realm by detailing it too thoroughly. The whole point of it is that mortals can't comprehend it; it's maddening. If the book went into detail on how to use it--both mechanically and as a plot point--without making the mistake of trying to define it too closely, then yes, I'd buy it.

Sure, but only if it was well written and preserved the existing flavour. It would be great if Bruce Cordell was on the team, even if only for consultation.

It's very hard to define what is ill advised to know....

Yes, absolutely without question. Thank you wotc, here is my money, would you like some more of it?

Problem is, Wotc knows book sales are player driven. The Far Realm has a flavor element of mortals that have dealings with it get screwed. Bad. End of the world bad. The friends of those mortals don't fair too well either. Making it more of a DM book.

The far realm can not be beaten. Only beaten back.

Seconded.

Hi,

I'm up for this, but again only if Bruce Cordell is the lead designer! I'm a big fan of Call of Cthulhu and always regret not picking up Dreamlands and those cool "field guides" to the various mythos creatures.

Cheers

Richard

I'd buy it without a doubt, providing it was good. I'd want it to have more of a Lovecraftian flavour than it already has though. At present the Far Realm is just a watered down D&D take on the whole thing.
