Fast Forward Issues?

Well, so far, I have Rings of Power, Swords of Power, the Demons and Devils book (forget the title), and I've got to say, I haven't been very impressed by any of the titles. Yes, they are reminiscent of the 1e days of Role-Aids, Judge's Guild, but without the style and substance that made those products stand out.

The concept of using stories for backgrounds was a nice touch in the Swords/Rings books, but for the prices, it's not worth it. I can get better ideas from other sources, like here on the EN boards.

And don't get me started on the Demons/Devils book... I was not pleased to see what they had done. Too many things out of whack, balances are off, CR's are off, and personally, there are some things included that (I feel) shouldn't have been, and other names of note completely overlooked.

My advise, avoid, unless you are a completist, or can get them really really cheap.

Does anyone have any actual reviews of Treasure Quests yet? I was also considering Wonderous Items of Power, but now I think I'll wait for some reviews...

I have been trying to fit a review of treasure quests in. But the backlog is long right now...

As for Wondrous Items of Power, I won't be doing a review of it. After my review of Rings of Power:
  1. They don't send me stuff anymore.
  2. I am convinced the series in not worth the money so I won't be buying it myself.
    [/list=1]

So, Psion - if we stopped sending you Encyclopaedia Arcane books, would you carry on buying them? :)

Cheers for the latest review, by the way - we are looking forward to great things from Alejandro. His Shamans book has just gone to print, and I really don't think we could have squeezed any more into that one

Btw, John, just curious, what did you think of Secrets and Societies? Did you enjoy or was it a little off? (Just curious to hear peoples reaction to this one.)

Hey Matt, what does a guy have to do get a free sourcebook then?! I mean come! I think I'm nearly as good as Psion! ;) *is kidding*

Er, would "no comment" be a safe thing to say? :)

Really, it depends on how useful I think the given product would be and/or how tough the competition is that month. I would have to admit that I think the EA series are shaping up to be the most potentially useful of Mongoose's books.

Yeah. I have heard it through the grapevine that his Shamans book rocks.

Interesting! Does this mean Mongoose is also putting out a book on shamans? This is the first I've heard of it. (The only other shaman book I'm aware of is the one from Green Ronin.)

Is it Dungeon World?
If so are you allowed to give any hints here or do you have to do a formal review?

It's not Dungeon world. It is Wondrous Items of Power, Treasure Quests (which I already bought), a Metamorphasis Alpha book, and two magazines (Campaign magazine and Games Unplugged.)

I don't mind making general statements before a formal review, but in this case I have nothing to say that I haven't already said. :)
