Anyone used these before? How do they hold up? How easy are they to print out and assemble?

EDITED: Because people keep thinking I am talking about this company. I am giving experiences with past companies and the product genre NOT this kickstarter!!!

Being totally honest, because I don't want to ding on a Kickstarter, I have yet to find a good print out constructed set like this that isn't pretty bad. Even the super expensive ones from the really good companies. Maybe thats why these guys are doing a Kickstarter. I wish them the best but of the maybe 200 sets I have used, helped construct, or constructed myself from really big established companies, none...0...have been worth the time in the long run. Maybe these guys are the good ones.

I am of course pledging to them anyway! I like small companies and just because I may not use it I have players who love this stuff.

I have printed out several hundred sheets from sets by Fat Dragon, and they have all come out great in color and ease of construction. I actually get far more feelings of fun out of assembling these things than I get out of when they are finally used.

Edit: Maybe my getting them all printed out at Staples helped me get such good color results.

Wow thats a pretty glowing endorsement, especially compared to other companies. I am glad I pledged. Now I am super excited!

I'm going to go the opposite direction of Karak. I've got some of Fat Dragon's sets (Copper Dragon Basic Dungeons, Dragonshire City Interiors, Dragonshire City Ruins, EZ Dungeons Mechanical Traps, Lost Reich bundle and the F-211 Copperhead -- my fav!), and they're good quality.

Most of the PDF's have instructions and tips to help you get the best possible results. The downsides are that the models do eat up a fair bit of ink (they are color and have good detail - I'd say superior to what you find on the likes of D&D's dungeon tiles), and it takes some practice to get good results - I wasn't happy with my first two projects when I was starting out before I got the hang of things. If you've ever put together plastic models or assembled miniature figures for other games, putting the pieces together is a snap.

The biggest problem for me has always been storage - the fold-down system looks like it well help with that a bit; I'd imagine investing in a tackle box would make this quite portable and storable.

But I think Stormonu probably gets what I meant anyway. Just wanted to make it clear that the experience hasn't been great with these kinds of things but not exactly with this company that's all. I also might have thought Treebore was talking a bit about what I wrote too because of his edit. That one was probably my mistake.

Personally the more I look at them the more I think I might like them and as Treebore said Staples might be a good way to go. Something I hadn't done before.

I have several Fat Dragon PDFs. Unfortunately, I have only made time to build a few, but all were very well designed and turned out well (including the dice tower/gm screen & the full sized helmet). The key for me is good materials - specifically 60-110 wt paper and low moisture paper glue.

I have not tried there Fold-Flat designs yet, but they look like a very cool idea.
