For the supernatural power inhuman speed, me and a couple of other people have been arguing about how to interpreted this rule for a while. It says:
All your Athletics checks are made at +1, including dodging. When sprinting, this bonus is increased to +2.
Here are the two ways this is being interpreted:
Way 1
All of your Athletics checks are made at +1, including dodging. When you sprint during your turn in combat (sprinting being a full round action) you gain +2 to the roll you have to make in order to sprint across zones. ALSO you get a +2 to your athletics checks for the remainder of the round. Therefore, if an opponent's turn is right after yours, and he attacks you, you get the +2. This interpretation basically says that if you have sprinted on your turn, you get a +2 Athletics bonus until the start of your next turn.
Way 2: All of your Athletics checks are made at +1, including dodging. When you sprint during your turn in combat (sprinting being a full round action) you gain +2 to the roll you have to make in order to sprint across zones. However, once you have arrived at your final destination, you are back at a +1. Therefore, if an opponent's turn is right after yours, and he attacks you, you only get the +1. This interpretation basically says the +2 is only giving you extra umph to move further on your turn, but not extra umph to your defenses once you've arrived.
So, if I sprinted my turn across a zone into another zone, my turn is over. Now, my opponent goes next and attacks me. Do I have a +2, or a +1 to my Athletics check for the defense roll ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
