Favore weapon in Clanggedin faith

I don't see what's wrong with their favored weapon being the battleaxe, hasn't it always been the battleaxe in every edition?

Because in other editions waraxes didn't exist, but doesn't mean it is not a favored dwarven war tool.
OK, guys, I don't want this to be an absurd discusion. I just believe that with new rules Clanggeddin should wield a more dwarven-oriented weapon and encourage in this way his dwarven followers to wield it as well; and if this weapon is more harmful to dwarven enemies even better. I'm just trying to be consequent with what a dwarven deity of war could think and do. That's all.

In 3.5, with Racial Weapon Familiarity, he may.

But in 3E, it's an Exotic Weapon, even for a dwarf. Even though the Monster Manual has every dwarf wielding one, the Players Handbook, under Battleaxe, says "This is the most common melee weapon used by dwarves".

(That's a weird inconsistency :-\ I never noticed before.)

Besides tradition and looking at it in a flavor way think about this.
The battleaxe weighs 7 lbs while the dwarven waraxe weighs 15 lbs. If you had to choice between the two knowing that you are gonig to be fighting with one in each hand which would you chose? Me I would take the lighter of the two. Since they are lighter you can swing them around and kill giants (because according to Clangedinn the only good giant diety is a dead giant diety). You can have two battleaxes for the weight of 1 waraxe. And saving 16 lbs on weapons and spending it on armor or other equipment sounds like a good idea to me.

But like it has been said before maybe they will change it when Weapon Familiarity comes out in 3.5E. Then again they might not in favor of tradition.

I doubt it very much that they change Silverbeard's favored weapon in 3.5. And for Clangeddin, there's no big difference, since the difference between those weapon is one point of damage on average. I don't have his stats, but I do beliefe that he won't need that single point.
And they were probably loath to give clerics a free exotic weapon proficiency with their war domain (note that no god with the war domain has an exotic weapon as his favored weapon).

One other thing I just noticed was Clangedinn's symbol. It's a pair of cross battle axes. Always has been if I remember right. So not only would you have to change his favored weapn, not that big a deal, but you would have to also change his symbol. Now to me that is a big deal. God's just don't go around changing thier symbol.

Bane's symbol, as I understand, has changed in the new edition. But he has had his comeback in the FRCS 3e, being reborn and all that, so this probably warrants a change.

These last threads sound interesting...
"Fear me and me kind, goblinoids, cos my waraxes will chop you to pieces!"- Clangeddin new symbol in 3.5 ed.:D
