Favorie Star Wars Movies?

1) Empire Strikes Back
2) A New Hope

I do not like the others at all.

The Auld Grump, who would love to see Jar Jar Binks in a cross over with Fargo...

1. Empire Strikes Back (I'd rather kiss a Wookie", "I can arrange that!")
2. A New Hope ("You came here in that? You're braver than I thought!", "Nice")
3. Return Of the Jedi ("My eyesight must be getting better. Instead of a great dark blur, I can see a great light blur"...or something...)
4. Attack of the Clowns...er Clones (Clone troopers, huge battles, Christopher Lee vs Miss Piggy!)
5. The Phantom Menace (Much maligned - the race was cool, as was the lightsaber duel. The acting was better than Clones.)

I liked the two new ones a lot - lets face it, the awful awful dialogue in Clones is no worse than the awful, awful dialogue in A New Hope or Jedi and to be honest, the only reason they rate below the original three is the lack of Han Solo - or a character that comes even close in coolness.

Aye, 'tis true.

1. A New Hope- Your first loves always the sweetest
2. Empire- A Dark turn love it
3.Return of the Jedi/Attack of the Clones- Jedi is one big climax to the end, Attack is alot of action interrupted by a few love scenes

4. Phantom Menace- Ok, but sort of slow with a lot of set up- and you dont see Yoda till well over halfway ( I think).; The pod race set piece is the highlight and of course the final Darth Maul duel is great.

Im personally hoping Ep III gives us the same effect Empire was,and considering the story arc of the prequels it probably will-it could be the best of the three.

Can't agree with that. I've sat down to compare, and I truly believe that the dialogue in the new movies is worse than the dialogue in the OT. So, for the most part, is the acting, despite the fact that we all know these actors can do better.

I lay the blame squarely on Lucas. He's actually said in previous interviews that writing--particularly dialogue--is a weak point of his. Why could he admit that in the past, and yet not think to let someone else write the dialogue for prequels?

i think he intended to.. then his Gollum Complex kicked in 'its MINE.. my PRECIOUS, and none can take it away from us'

my preferance is
i) Empire Strikes Back
ii) Return of the Jedi/Attack of the Clones*
iii) Star Wars: A New Hope**
iv) The Phantom Menace

*i personally feel AotC would have been the best Star Wars movie, if they had cast someone to play Anakin who could actually act, or failing that, a block of wood..
** my low rating of it is probably down to overexposure, it being the only Star Wars i had on video for about 10 years

"Empire had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings.

All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets."

I see someone is a Clerks fan. ;)

I rank the movies thus:
1. Empire (Still very enjoyable today)
2. Jedi (has some cringe inducing moments, but overall enjoyable)
3. A New Hope (Pretty good for nostalgia)
4. Clones (Bad dialogue and bad direction almost ruin the movie's neat plot and cool battle scenes)
12. Phantom Menace (Only good thing about this movie, the lightsaber fight at the end. The rest? Utter trash)

1. The Empire Strikes Back- From the opening of Luke getting bushwacked by the Wampa and the AT-AT battle to the final duel in the carbon freezing chambers of Cloud City this is by far my favorite.

2. Return of the Jedi- Say what you will about the Ewoks, I don't let them take away from the great skiff battle (poor Boba Fett so cool yet such a lame death) and the amazing space battle/lightsaber duel all good stuff.

3. A New Hope- Great introduction to the universe. Much better starting point than The Phantom Menace. Lucas says he wants future generations to watch the series in order 1-6, but I think they will be confused as hell with TPM as their first Star Wars experience.

4. Attack of the Clones- Actually a great movie if you skip all the Anakin+Padme stuff on Naboo. I love the end arena fight into the droid vs clone war and the final Jedi duel.

5. The Phantom Menace- Really quite slow compared to the other movies. As others have stated the Darth Maul scenes are cool but are too far between to save the movie.

1. Star Wars (1977 version). For me this one sets a standard that the others just don't quite reach. Maybe it's notalgia, or the fact that I've seen this one more times than all the others put together, I dunno. This one is just my absolute favorite. Maybe it's the simple innocense of being able to watch it without thinking "oh, I bet they did that because it would make a good action figure/playset/t-shirt/plush toy". I can't think of a single change that was made in the 1997 version that I consider an improvement.

2. Return of the Jedi. I love the throne room scenes between Luke, Vader, and the Emporer. Particularly how the tension builds, and the music reaches a crescendo, and it's like the entire trilogy has been building to this very point since the first frame of the first film. Plus, Princess Leia's outfit in Jabba's Palace was the stuff of pleasant dreams for many years. On this one I'm torn between which version I like. I don't like the new victory celebration music at the end of the 1997 version, but I much prefer the 1997 version of Boba Fett's demise.

3. The Empire Strikes Back. The problem with this movie is that the scenes on Dagobah are boring as watching paint dry once you've seen them once or twice. I usually refer to them as the "Dragobah scenes", because they drag on forever. If there was a version with those scenes edited out or down, I'd probably like this one more, but still probably not quite as much as Jedi. The changes in the Special Edition of Empire don't really matter to me one way or the other, although I'm very much in favor of the reported change on the DVD of having the Emporer played by the same actor who played him in Jedi.

All I'll say about the newer films is that I'm not a fan of the prequels, and leave it at that.

Same with him blinking. And by that, I mean that he only blinks once in the entire movie.
