Favorite addition to the MM2?

Kai Lord

Hero
Call me random, but I pick the Myconids. This may change after reading the descriptions of some of the new monsters, but for now the Mushroom men are the sentimental favorites.

Ixitxachitl

They are really cool and wierd. I will admit I'm partial to the Slyph because, well you with the original MM know :D

I'm interested in seeing the Zodar the most though. It wa ssuch an odd creature that really didn't seem to fit. I hopr they described it much better this time.

Heh, too bad they gave 3E sylphs the "Gay Ass Art" feat. Besides how can they ever truly catch that "1st Edition feel" without full frontal nudity in a monster book?

More Yugoloths, particularly the Arcanoloth.

The Linnorms! Hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!!

Death Knights. Although they appeared in a Dragon Magazine some time ago, it's nice to see them in a book with all the other baddies.

And my favorite additions: THE PHOENIX!. Aside from Celestials and good dragons, there are no other paragons of holy might more beautiful and dangerous than a Phoenix.

My three favorite returning monsters are

1. Linnorms - Loved them in Dragon magazine. I hope they have pictures for each one.

2. Zodar - A mysterious humanoid found in the back of the 2E Spelljammer compendium returns! IIRC, these guys were tough as hell!

3. Spell Weaver - just plain cool...

Some of the newer monsters I can't wait to see are: Hellfire Wyrm, Ethereal Slayer, Bronze Serpent, and Ocean Strider. The new monsters (Tojinada?) in the MM1 pale in comparison.

The Morkoth, Death Knight and Frost Salamander are well drawn as well. I'm hoping this book has a better layout than the MM1.

On the flipside, I can do without Gem Dragons and Ixitxachitl. Dire elk? Half-golems? Not sure about those ones...

It still looks much better than I expected. I was cynical about buying another MM, but now I definately will get this one.

I don't understand why so many people are up in arms about the Gem Dragons. Honestly... The chromatics are the evil, the metallics are the good, and the gems are the neutral dragons. Always have been... Some of the OTHER dragons could have been done without, but the gems fit right into the niche...

Big Scary Monsters!

Anything around CR20 or better usually interests me. ;)

Most looking forward to the Nightmare Beast.

Though it will be nice to see the Linnorms; Celestials; Demons; Devils and Yugoloths too.
