Goldfinger's got the top spot. For some crazy reason I always liked For Your Eyes Only , which would take the #2 spot.

GoldenEye is one of my favorites, and so is Die Another Day. Maybe GoldenEye wins, because the tank chase sequence in St. Petersburg is just too cool.

The tank scene rocks. That's one of my favorite Bond movie moments of all time.

For me it's a toss-up between From Russia with Love and Goldeneye.

From Russia with Love had a great Cold War plot, and lots of action and suspense. Goldeneye was a well done Bond movie that had a believably post-Cold War plot, and some good action sequenses (gotta give props to the tank chase again! ).

For Your Eyes Only: This movie returns to the "cold war thriller" genre rather than having Bond going up against mad scientists and criminal masterminds. For a Moore film, this movie feels surprisingly like one of the Sean Connery Bond movies. This movie also pays a lot of attention to plot and character development. Plus, it's the one of only two post-OHMSS movie that mentions Bond's departed wife.

Actually, I guess make that "one of three." In The Spy Who Loved Me, Bond and Agent XXX have a bit of a showdown as to who knows more about the other. Agent XXX says something like this in reference to Bond: "Many lady friends, but married only once. Wife..." Bond then cuts her off, she says, "You're sensitive," and he replies, "About some things, yes."

Other than that little correction, have to say I'd agree with about 90% of Dark Jezter's movie rankings. Perhaps I'd move a couple of them up or down a tier, but he's mostly got my sentiments covered.

Oh, and I'll vote for Goldeneye as my favorite movie, with The Living Daylights, From Russia with Love, and For Your Eyes Only being pretty close.

I can't decide between Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice... How is a rational man supposed to choose between Pussy Galore, crotched-aimed lasers, razor-brimmed bowler hats and mod Japanese girls, ninja, and a spaceship that eats smaller spaceships?

Of the newer Bond films, I quite enjoyed the one with Rupert Murdoch --I mean Jonathan Pryce-- as the evil media mogul who tries to start WW3 to corner the market on its coverage... Tomorrow Never Dies? Didn't that also feature Denise Williams as Lara Croft??

And I really like Diamonds Are Forever. Any film with lithe, acrobatic henchgirls like Bambi and Thumper, and the superlatively creepy Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wind is aces in my book. Plus it had Jill St. John as some kind of jewel-thieving stripper...

Funny, I always took Satellite News Network to be a rather blatant reference to Ted Turner's Cable News Network.

And Denise Williams is in the next one, The World is not Enough, and her major role in the movie is to provide the set-up for the final punchline.

It had an energy that all of the sequels tried to regain, with varying success.

Actually, Dark Jezter, since you know the films so well, would you mind commenting on what you think of all the pre-opening credit scenes? Might even do for another poll... As far as they go, The Spy Who Loved Me with the Union Jack parachute is the best; Goldeneye's dam sequence in at second.
