Favorite Casting?

I have a friend (it's always "a friend", isn't it?), who finds it most satisfying to play a gruff, dwarven warrior type.

My own friend prefers to play a powerfully muscled human ranger/fighter.

I play a mixture of characters though I have certain archetypes that I do fall back on:
gruff Dwarf fighter
Gnome illusionist (I miss that as a base class)

Currently I'm playing an evangelistic human cleric in D&D and a ranger type (borderer class) in Conan RPG.

What type of character do you find yourself playing most often?

The thief/mage. Sometimes highly charismatic and bluff, sometimes just sneaky. Generally at least a little arrogant, but I've played jittery and had fin with it...

Well... that's my most common. I have several different persona's I like to play with variations on their personalities. But that's the main one I've had most often.

Male tricksters. Let me be a little more specific. Attractive male tricksters. It's sort of a running joke by this point with my gaming group.

With the exception of one-shot games (where I'll play anything and everything), my consistant trait is that my PC's are smart. Or at least not dumb. I think I'm a pretty smart guy (not a genius or anything, just smart) and I most certainly have an eye for tactics. I can't stand having to make poor tactical decisions week after week in the name of roleplaying so I try and play characters who would reasonably make good decisions and plans.

In this respect I think I'm a pretty poor roleplayer because all my PC's eventually start to sound like me. I don't talk in funny voices or pull off weird voice quirks on a consistant basis in order to make my PC's different in that way. The funny thing is that I don't seem to have this problem as a GM but that's probably because I only have to do an intensely different personality for short bursts.

I often find myself playing some Han Solo-like Rogue or Fighter. OTOH, I also tend to play really heroic Paladins or Clerics.

Furthermore, I tend to play humans 90% of the time.

One of my friends will only play The Gruff Dwarf(TM) or The Tough Half-Orc(TM).

Another guy I know has this somewhat disturbing tendency to play female Elves very often. And he really doesn´t look very elvish, either.

Me: High Charisma Party leader, in d20 Fantasy typically that means Sorcerer, but trying Paladin out too. In Modern games I tend to be the High Int Party Leader, typically that means adventuring archelogist.

The rest of the group:

My Wife: "Kick-but fighters" who are typically "hot asian chicks" (her words) but she has branched out to "big tough guys" a la Ben Grim.

D: Emotionally Conflicted and Personally Flawed Skill User. Bard, Rogue, Hacker, doesn't matter the genre or the setting. Thats what she plays.

T (D's husand): Monosyllabic CN Human Ranger. Although he is getting better about that.
