It's very close for me, between CArc and CAdv. I love the Warlock more than any other base class, but in the end my vote goes to CAdv for its prestige classes.

CW is very, very good too. CD is okay.

Complete Divine just doesn't get enough love. It's come in _really_ hand for my Cleric and Druid, and I tried out Favored Soul recently (yes, my last three characters have all been divine casters). I don't think Complete Divine is my favorite, but it's been most useful to me lately.

Man, The Complete Adventurer has some satisfied customers. I must be utterly missing something. I've thumbed through that one many times over the last coupla weeks and just don't see what's so useful about it. Sure, skills are expanded on, but several are left out. The feats don't do much for me, and the PrC's are, well, a whole frackin' LOT of PrCs. Don't know how on earth I presonally would benefit from them.

I am withholding my opinion on TCAdv, however. Since it has so many happy users, I must be mentally defective. Of course, that could very well be the case, as I rate TCD over TCA, although I do agree that TCW seems to be top o'the heap.

Considering the Warlock is the only thing in CArc that I like, and man I think that class is just tooooo sweet, it alone isn't enough to top CAdv for me as my personal favorite. But the Warlock pushes it ahead of CDiv and CWar. CDiv was a complete waste of production I can't see how anybody except Cleric lovers would like it (and me no lika da Cleric).

But my friend, who likes Druids, loves the book. We both like WotC for at least delivering on giving me something I like, and same for my friend.

Personally, I think my friend just has bad taste. ;) :D

Overall, I would probably go with Complete Adventurer. The spellthief is probably my favorite new base class, simply because his ability to steal spells (or "borrow" them from fellow party members) greatly enhances a party's flexibility. Steal a healing spell from the cleric and you've got a backup healer. Steal an attack spell from the wizard and you've got an additional blaster. Warmage, scout, warlock and favored soul are also good new base classes (IMO).

Complete Adventurer also has the multiclass synergy feats for the paladin and the monk which are personal favorites of mine. Complete Arcane has the sudden metamagic feats, which I like but I would implement differently. Complete Divine has the divine feats and Complete Warrior has plenty of good combat feats.

In terms of prestige classes, I think Complete Adventurer has the most imaginative and flavorful, such as the Daggerspell Mage/Shaper and the Shadowbane Inquisitor/Stalker. And even though I think the Fochlucan Lyrist is somewhat overpowered, I think it can be tweaked to make a nice Paladin/Bard PrC. This is not to say that the PrCs in the other books are bad, just mostly bland (IMO).

Still, I would say that all four books are excellent supplements. I've been quite impressed at the overall quality of the recent WotC products (the two race books, the monster books and Frostburn).

Yes, but did it have to be said by you, Olive? ;)

I voted for Complete Warrior, but I really like Complete Adventurer and Complete Arcane.

Complete Divine, though the least of the four books, has some very, very good material in it, however. I've been playing a cleric with the Augment Healing feat, and it's just fantastic. The real problem with the book is the uncertain position of the gods between different D&D campaigns. I think CD is closer than the previous efforts I've seen, but still hasn't quite hit the mark.

Cheers!

I'd have to say Complete Arcane, arcane spellcasting being my favorite parts of the game. A radiant servant of pelor or a master of many form can not compete in coolness factor with an alienist. YMMV, of course. I'm just biased toward wizards and sorcerers.

Second would be CoAd. There are lots of nifty things in Complete Adventurer. More on skills and on alchemy, yum. And I like the monastic and devoted feats. I just regret they haven't extended the concept to other classes that gets things per day and that suffer from multiclassing, even if multiclassing isn't restricted. I'm thinking of bard and druid, mostly.
