Chalk another one up for Flight of Dragons.

So many great dragons in this movie to choose from. The young and rash Gorbash, the experienced and wise Smirgel, and the wholly evil and deadly Briag.

This is one of my all time favorite movies, as my handle might suggest, and I was happy to see it included in the poll.

I just knew someone was going to mention the dragon from Shrek. I held my tongue on my post, because I felt there was probably a good reason why it was excluded. But alas some one with weaker will than I succumbed to the temptation thus making my restraint meaningless. Next time I will not entertain the battle between my better taste and my inner goof off.

Let the Goof Off reign :D

Smaug rulez. Period. The movie SUCKED, but in the book, I can just picture Samug as the epitome of drago-dom. Witty, wise, vain, and scary as hell when his wrath is kindled.

BTW, I agree that most dragons potrayed on the big screen look too cartoonish or plastic-y. Make the dragons look real, use the same tricks Peter Jackson did with the Balrog, not revealing too much and only hinting at the true size and shape of it...

I'm not sure if it got a movie or not, but in the anime for record of lodoss war, shooting star represented everything a red dragon should be. Incredibly powerful and deadly, he torched villages on a regular basis. Whenever I see a strong red, I always think of him.

I really can't decide between Dragonslayer or Dragonheart (Vermithrax or Draco, rather).

I voted for Draco, mainly because of Connery's facial expressions on the Dragon. Gave it a much more INTELLIGENT look.

But I am still awed by Vermithrax everytime I watch Dragonslayer.

I dunno...

As much as I would love to vote for an anime...

I never really saw any sign that the dragons in Lodoss were anything more than large, powerfull animals... no real spark of intelligence that I could see.

I didn't see ALL of Lodoss War yet, but as magnificent as the dragon looked in the first ep, I liked Connery's portrayal of Draco. I also liked the dragon in Shrek but cause it was kinda cute (and not as dopey as Pete's). :) The dragon in Dragon's Lair had pretty good taste though (though her voice {{{shudder}}})...
