Favorite game system independent of setting / genre

Third place goes to Cyberpunk 2020, whatever powered that game. Loved the system.
'Interlock', in case you were curious. And if you really like that system, there's a project started (and maintained) by a guy* over at RPGnet, 'Interlock Unlimited'. That's the project name, by the way. It's an attempt to turn Interlock into a generic multi-genre system. Interesting stuff. Not sure if there's still a Yahoo group for it, but even if not, the files are probably hosted at the creator's own CP2020 website.

* I think his username is Wisdom000. But I wouldn't wager on it.

Independent of Setting or Genre?

I would have to say Rolemaster. Very flexible, modular, gritty and detailed system that scratches my itch for crunchy rules, but doesn't bog them down with unique mechanisms that don't add anything to the game.

I've tried many systems once and then couldn't continue. The only games I've ever really played more than once are:

1) Whatever the current version of D&D is (4E today).

2) WEG d6 Star Wars

Into the Woods
