I think it's worth noting that a little extra work on the beginning of the game can mean the difference between a great game and one you just play because it's the currently available game.
True, a lot of games get started and because of scheduling conflicts or folks moving away they either never really get off the ground or, perhaps, they fizzle out early on. But even if a game/campaign is doomed to only last a few sessions I feel it is worthwhile trying to get it started off on the best foot possible.
So, for all of the folks who read this plea, I implore you, add a little something to this thread for posterity...
