[FCTF] Fighter level 6 vs Hero level 6

First Post
This is more of a comparison of the Fighter versus the Hero class, than anything.

A 6th level fighter has the following attributes that a 6th level hero does not have:

- 4 Bonus fighter feats (8 HrP for Gain Feat)
- 3 Armor feats (6 HrP for Gain Feat)
- 1 Shield feat (2 HrP for Gain Feat)
- 1 Martial Weapon feat (2 HrP for Gain Feat) [actually this is not entirely accurate, but realistically a fighter primarily uses 1 weapon anyway]
- an average of 18 extra hit points (9 HrP for Super Tough))
- an average of 18 extra skill points (12 HrP for Skill Bonus)
- Iterative attack (no recourse)
- +3 to hit (5 HrP for Heightened Accuracy)
- +3 Fortitude save (3 HrP for Heightened saves)

The total HrP cost is 47. So give yourself 2 extra hit points and you break even.

That said, it appears the cost of the more trivial powers is in balance. Anyone care to make a rogue?

Improved Weaponry with a 2 point restriction that it only applies when the target is denied their dexterity or they are flanked.

Yes, that's how we balanced the core 'bonus' powers, like Heightened this and that, or Improved so-n-so. I've got a game in half an hour, though, so I'll have to come back later to show off the rogue comparison.

Did you do a fit for the Sorcerer and Wizard? That really has me interested.

Or was it more of the idea that if we fit the character to a fighter and a rogue, then we can test the super powers versus rogues and fighters. If there is balance between the core rules characters and the FCTF characters, then the powers are balanced against the remainder of the field. (Of course this assumes that a fighter is balanced against a sorcerer who is balanced against a cleric).

I think it'd be more interesting to work out the comparison after giving the Hero a level of fighter (for the feats), which is how things would probably "really" happen in character creation.

Hmm. So a Hero5/Fighter1 vs a Fighter6 . . . anyone want to do the math?

Just a quick question, would this result in an XP penalty if the neither of the classes were a favored class for the PC?

Well the hero would have 2 HrP for saved bonus feat, 10 HrP for the save Armor and Weapon feats, 2 HrP saved for a better hit die, 6 HrP saved for the skill points. They would need to spend 2 HrP to adjust their low saves and would only need to spend 2 HrP to appropriately reflect the change in Base Fort saves.

All totaled, the character saves 23 HrPs by taking a level of Fighter.

In my campaign, taht began last Saturday with a pre-release version that Morrus sent me (thanks again, Morrus), be explored some of those possibilities, with 9th level PCs. By now, we have:

* Specialist 1 / Hero 8
* Fighter 1 / Hero 6 / Rogue 2
* Fighter 4 / Hero 5
* Fighter 2 / Hero 7

And two more will arrive tomorrow.

If you want to read some details about the campaign and the stats of the PCs, I've just begun to post a Story Hour here:
