Feat - Alacritous Cogitation

Hello community,

I have a question regarding the Feat Alacritous Cogitation from Complete Mage, p37.

If you leave an arcane spell slot open when preparing spells, you can use that open slot to cast any arcane spell you know of the same level or lower.
...
You can use this feat only once per day, regardless of the number of slots you leave open.

It's obvious, that, if you take that feat, you can fill one spell slot spontanous. Our question is:
Can I take this feat twice to have 2 spell slots filled spontanously?

Edit: I found a maybe interesting thread via Google
http://www.google.at/url?sa=t&sourc...24wfMF&usg=AFQjCNGNxWdAjF_GVvFp4k3ZpHA3MRdlYA
But when you click the google link, you get redirected to http://community.wizards.com/go/browse/forums and if you search the forums there for "Alacritous Cogitation", you find nothing

Thanks,
mascheko

As a general rule of thumb, you cannot take a feat more than once unless it specifically states that you can.

That said, I don't think it would be game-breaking if you ruled that you could.

did you try the google cash?

wizards restructured their forums, and as a result all google entries (and internal crossreferences on the forums) point to nonexisting urls.

That said:

I agree with Runestar.

Why exactly would you want this?
Possible other options would be: pearls of power (regain cast spell) and ring of wizardry (more spells)

Hi folks,

1.) thanks for the answers!
2.)
@ Runestar: thx for your Pi x Thumb rule, sounds somehow logical and I agree, I don't see it game-breaking as well - it's a feat you have to spend for it!

@Herzog:
You my hero, the google cache tip was worth gold!
Why I would take it twice? Well, I don't have every usefull spell always prepared. Last time we found out about an ambush, I used this spontanous spell slot to fly up to the roof (high building) checked the situation and fought from safe above position. Would be lovely to have a spare spontanous slot for the fight itself. Or you need to manipulate objects or persons, which you didn't expect you need to. Darkvision. I might not know the day before, that I enter a dungeon.

For all those who are interested, here the link to google cache site, no clue how long it will exist though

The summary in the discussion there (and actually here as well) is, that it seems to be prohibited to take the feat twice, but it definitely leaves room for a house rule - since it doesn't seem to be overpowered.

Thank you,
mascheko

Use scrolls for those not frequently needed (in most encounters) but still useful spells (like identify or detect magic).

Scrolls are cheap and easy to make.
