Well then...

That's not poor resource management, that's masochism! So what were the specifics on these characters? Now I'm curious.

wild elf non magic ranger

Perhaps you should use some kind of nasty trap to kill a PC or two, then suggest they bring in magic-using replacements. Then again, perhaps that's just the vile sadist in me talking. I bet they're pretty effective in antimagic zones... @.@

this was an old campaign I was talking about, It lasted till they were 10th level and they never really had any magic using classes and it worked just fine.

Other than the fact that they had to rest after every encounter...

Which is definitely more realistic. There's certainly no problem with that aspect. But what an odd group you must have had... usually we have to bid on who gets to play the spellcasters.

I tell players play what they want, I'm not going to worry about a blaanced party if they aren't. It was fun, they were creative and dealt with the lack of casters really well.

Another story I like to tell about that group was thier first magical weapon they found was a long sword. The most common weapon in the game and none of them knew how to use it. We didn't like the idea of classes knowing all martial weapons so we had weapon groups before Unearthed Arcana came out with them. And none of the players took the sword grouping.

Hey Croth, I am going to try the Feat every level thing next campaign any recommendations or restrictions I should put on it or should I just let it fly. Thanks.

There are no feats I get rid of simply becasue of this rule; there are of course feats that I just don't want to use no matter how many feats the players are getting. Assuming by restrictions you mean feat restrictions.....

I like to point out though, even with feats every level, still no one takes toughess

Yeah, Toughness definately leaves a lot to be desired. But how to fix it? Maybe a +1 Fortitude save as well. Bah, no thread hijacking!

I think that I too will use the 1 feat per level in my next game.

I fixed this in my campaign by making the amount of hit points increase as one's base Fortitude save increases. I got the idea from the Dragon's Toughness and Dwarf's Toughness feats from Masters of the Wild. What do you think?

Toughness [General]
You are tougher than normal.
Benefit: You gain +3 hit points. The number of bonus hit points granted by this feat increases to +6 when your base Fortitude save bonus reaches +5, and increases again to +12 when your base Fortitude save bonus reaches +11.
Special: A character may gain this feat multiple times. Its effects stack.

[Edit: And no, I am not thread hijacking. This feat change was made intentionally so that it would be a viable option in a game with a feat every level, so this post at least does pertain to the thread topic :p]

So does this increase automatically? If I take it at first, then when I am level 6, I am a fighter, do I get an extra 3 hp for free? Or is this increase only when taken?
