Feats to Enhance Armors?

EPRock

Slaughter McSlaughter
There are many feats to enhance combat

- Weapon Focus
- Weapon Specialization
- Two-Weapon Fighting
- Greater Weapon Focus
- Greater Weapon Specialization
- Weapon Finesse
- Quick Draw
- Power Attack

etc...

What are some good armor related feats to enhance armor usage.

Some examples could be

Armor Master
You can use armor more proficiently moving more quickly and adeptly.
Benefit: You suffer 1 less on all your armor check penalties

What are some house rules that people out there have found to benefit the armor wearing people?

All the feats you listed for weapons don't enhance the weapon per se, but in most cases, your chance to hit. IOW, enhances your BAB.

There are some feats that enhance your AC, mainly Dodge, Combat Expertise, Greater Combat Expertise (IIRC), Two Weapon Defense, Improved Two Weapon Defense, Greater Two Weapon Defense, Natural Armor (EPIC, IIRC)...

So really, I don't see that you're right. The only "usage" of armor is to improve AC, and these feats do that.

Ya, there's armor focus, armor specialization, armor mastery.

I don't recall off hand where these are found.

Incidentally, I think that a feat that reduces armor check penalty by 1 would be pretty weak. If it increased the max dex bonus by 1 and reduced the armor check penalty by 2.... well, maybe.

I think that the following feats would not be unbalanced:

Light Armor Specialization [General, Fighter]
Prerequisites: Light Armor Proficiency, BAB +4
The character has learned to work with his armor, turning in such a way that a blow that might otherwise pierce it glances off.
Benefits: When the character is wearing light armor, he gets a +1 Glance bonus to his AC. Glance bonuses are lost whenever the character would lose his Dexterity bonus to AC, regardless of whether or not he has a Dexterity bonus. Touch attacks ignore Glance bonuses to AC.

Medium Armor Specialization [General, Fighter]
Prerequisites: Medium Armor Proficieny, BAB +4
The character has learned to work with his armor, turning in such a way that a blow that might otherwise pierce it glances off.
Benefits: When the character is wearing medium armor, he gets a +2 Glance bonus to his AC. Glance bonuses are lost whenever the character would lose his Dexterity bonus to AC, regardless of whether or not he has a Dexterity bonus. Touch attacks ignore Glance bonuses to AC.

Heavy Armor Specialization [General, Fighter]
Prerequisites: Heavy Armor Proficieny, BAB +4
The character has learned to work with his armor, turning in such a way that a blow that might otherwise pierce it glances off.
Benefits: When the character is wearing heavy armor, he gets a +3 Glance bonus to his AC. Glance bonuses are lost whenever the character would lose his Dexterity bonus to AC, regardless of whether or not he has a Dexterity bonus. Touch attacks ignore Glance bonuses to AC.

Note that for the purposes of these feats, if you're wearing mithral armor which effectively drops down a classification, you use the lighter classification (so Elven Chainmail counts as Light Armor, and you can only get a +1 bonus out of it).

These feats seem reasonable to me on the general grounds that medium and heavy armor are widely thought to be underpowered in D&D3.x.

I'd love to see more Armor feats. One to reduce Dex and check penalties would be great. One that reduces the check penalty for encumberance, too, would be fantastic.

The feats I listed are from the book Feats.

And? That's not exactly a core book. It's not even a WotC book. I don't think mentioning it dismisses the question, especially when you provide no details on what the feats *do*.

That bit of rudeness aside, it would be good to have some specific armour feats. Mike Sullivan's look pretty good. I don't know if they have any basis in the reality of armour, but they look balanced, which is sometimes more important.
