There's nothing wrong with taint as a verb or adjective. But as a noun? Really no.

Hmm... I've never heard that one, but that doesn't mean you're not correct. Here in Alberta, "taint" is just a word that never gets used; we sometimes use the word "gooch" for that slang meaning of "taint" though.In the U.S. "taint" is used as slang for the perineum (and if you don't want to look up that word, let's just say it is a part of the body covered by underwear, I can't draw a map to it without making this grandma unfriendly). Of course, that is just 'slang' so it might be slightly more regional within the US rather tan all of the US. And, of course, the word taint is a valid word on its own with its own meaning.
So I think it has different reactions here (in the US) than there in the UK (where your location lists you as being from).
