Oirhandir thought splitting the leftover money from the bandits would be easy until he heard Sunny talking about a 1/5 value of the crossbow, at which point his eyes started to glaze over. The elf had always been good at sums, and endeavored to determine just what was a fair split. He reached into his pack and...astonishingly, the first things that came to hand were his quill, some parchment, and a vial of ink. "Let me write this down", he asked, as he worked the figures.
"All right, agreed we will each keep the 10 crowns that Ingus paid us for our work last night, and those coins will not enter into this calculation. Phineus's purse held 330 gold, 53 silver, and 76 copper. We will give 35 crowns to the one honest merchant that Lasair found, that leaves 295 gold, 53 silver, and 76 copper. Now, the purse Ingus gave me that had the proceeds from the sales of the weapons held 226 crowns, which makes a total of 521 gold, 53 silver, and 76 copper. We all agree that the weapons and armor that Sunny and I kept were worth another 230 crowns, which would have been split between all of us had those items been sold. That brings us to 751 gold, 53 silver, and 76 copper, counting what is owed as well as what is on the table. Now, making change so that it can be split gives us...(and here Oirhandir made some more scribbles)...756 gold, 6 silver, and 46 copper. Split 6 ways, that makes 126 gold, 1 silver, and 7 copper with 4 coppers left over. Now, we all agree my shirt is worth 200 crowns (and here it seemed that Oirhandir was as much asking as telling) and since I claim that as my pay, that means I have taken an extra 73 gold, 8 silver, and 3 copper. I propose that I should add that to the pile. Now, Sunny has taken a crossbow and bolts worth 30 crowns as part of his pay, so if we give him an extra 96 gold, 1 silver, and 7 copper, he will be square with the rest of us as well. If we only give him the 96 crowns and change, and I add my 73 crowns and change, there will be enough to pay each of the rest of you the 126 gold, 1 silver, and 7 copper that you deserve."
He paused, pleased with his handiwork. "Do we all agree that is a fair distribution?", the elf asked.
OOC:[sblock]Bront, somehow my calculations ended up a silver or so off from yours, but I don't think that's a big deal. Everybody, feel free to check the math, or add a different opinion of the split. And remember, everybody gets an extra 10 gp on top of what I've got here, since that's what Ingus paid us.
Has anyone here read the bit in the Restaurant at the End of the Universe about the Bistromathic Drive? I'm starting to feel that way about this...
Oh, and Bront, on the character sheet I still haven't subtracted the 97 gp, 8 sp, 9 cp from the other day, or added the 10 gp pay, or subtracted the 15 gp for Ingus to size the armor, or subtracted the 73 gp 8 sp 3cp from this distribution. As soon as we reach an agreement, I'll do all that.[/sblock]
