Fey power source

Well in Worlds and Monsters it states something about that the feywild is where most arcane classes draw their power. which makes sense as the feywild is a magic byproduct of the normal creation.

I agree. Barbarians should be a martial power class. If Rangers are are martial ( and IMO they should be) an not nature then barbarians should certainly be. Fey (even if feral) inspired barbarians are a bit weird. In 2nd edition they needed to be umpteenth level even to associate with magic using classes and magic.
From the description they're given for 4th Ed, Barbarians will be taking in a more totemic imagery then they have in 3rd. The Norse Berserker, the original inspiration, is what they appear to be shooting for here. They're pulling their power from primal sources rather then through pure weapons training.

You COULD make a Martial only Barbarian, but that doesnt appear to be the archetype they're angling for this go around.

I have heard this before, but I can't find any info on the 4e info page... where is this from, anyway? Do you know?
It's from Worlds & Monsters.

Also, primal may mean a feywild connection... or it may not... just thinking out loud.
IMO, if there is going to be a Primal power source and if it's "connected" to a plane, then that plane would be the Elemental Chaos. However, I suspect the "Primal" power source will have more to do with animalism and tapping into your inner beast.

What he said, IIRC primal power source will be tied to primordials who battled gods at the dawn of time, and primordials ruled elemental chaos (much like gods rule astral sea).

I believe there are references to infernal, fey, and star pacts...

wait, fey?

You can have a fey warlock in 3.5.

There isn't any crunch for the pact you choose, but in the class description it talks about infernal and fey warlocks. I took some Fey Heritage feats from Complete Mage to add a little crunch to it, myself.

Over and over again the feywild is described as flowing with arcane power. Elves that have lived there for generations - the Eladrin - have innate arcane magical abilities (that dimension step ability, for example).

I would say the power source of the feywild is Arcane. It sounds a bit strange, but that is how it seems to have been set up.

Below is more or less how I see the power sources set up:

???: Martial
???: Ki (maybe this will be folded into Psionic? maybe inner soul?)

Astral Sea: Divine
Feywild: Arcane
Shadowfell: Shadow
Elemental Chaos: ?? (elemental?)

Inner Mind: Psionic
Inner Physical / Animal: Primal

Inner Soul: ??
Inner Anima: ??

(not too sure that the last two will ever be used, although with all they have said of anima - and its ability to remain behind after death, animate the body, have trace amounts of memories / feelings, and so forth, I can easily see it one day being used as a power source)
