FFG: New L&L Books

thundershot

Adventurer
I was just perusing bn.com, and noticed two unfamiliar books in the FFG listing..

Legends & Lairs: Planes & Portals

and

Legends & Lairs: Spellslinger

Any info you're willing to share?

Also, I'm going on the assumption that all of the schools of magic will eventually be covered (already got Illusion on the way, and Evocation pre-ordered), as well as the Lore books. I REALLY want to make sure there's a Fey Lore book, not fey getting lumped in with something else... what say you?

Thanks!

Cool, thanks for the scoop.

Planes and Portals... that's going to be sweet.

I'll see what comes up on Amazon, if anything.

Cheers!

Yeah, I mentioned Citycraft in one of the recent "Previews d20 Listings" (I can't search, so I can't find the original post).

Thanks

Legends & Lairs

Well, as you die-hards know, we've got two Legends & Lairs lines: the thick and the thin.

Thin includes the school books and the monster lore books. Thick include the craft books (now renamed the works books) and the "ampersand" (portals & planes, sorcery & steam, etc). The former are a series of environments for your average d20 fantasy setting: dungeon, city, and wilderness. The latter will be genre books: the planar-hopping genre, the steampunk genre, etc.

So, to address the other questions:
1) The spellslinger book will actually be the third in our new line of mini games. It's called Horizon, and its intent is to allow you pick up an affordable, self-contained game sourcebook to play with your gaming group for a few weeks as a bit of an escape from your normal routine. Each will be in its own nifty genre, perhaps one you've been jonesin' to play in. First up we'll have Redline: Post-apocalyptic survival in a world of cars, guns, & gasoline. That will be followed up by Grimm: Escape from a world of fairy tales gone wrong. Third up will be be Spellslinger: High noon with six-shooters and fireballs.

2) Yep, Fey Lore will be its own book, right behind Giant Lore (for which all of the art is in, and it's looking FANTASTIC. My 3 faves: Mitch Cotie, Anneth Lagamo, and David Griffith. Anneth is one of our new artists, she made a great showing in the upcoming Midnight book, Against the Shadow).

Thanks for the updated information Rob. I'm really looking forward to both Sorcery & Steam and Planes & Portals. What is the release date for Planes & Portals, BTW?

And are the mini-game books going to be hardcover or softcover?

Cheers!

In order to contain my budget a little, I've been focusing on Mongoose Quintessential books, Bastion's books, FFG's Lore and School books, with the occaisional hardcover from FFG (too many came out at once, and I lost track) and the occaisional other book here and there...

Oh, and of course the WOTC books.

And Kenzer's modules.

Any word on their steampunk book, Sorcery and Steam?

I believe Sorcery & Steam will either be out right near the end of this month or in week one of May. (I am SOOOO looking forward to that book.)

Cheers!

Got the complete library

I run a small game store and don't make enough money to buy everything I want to buy, yet.

Of the things I do buy, Legends and Lairs is #1 on my list. I make sure to push it out the door with my customers too, since I only sell and push things I think are really worthwhile.

The only complaint I have is that FFG does not hit their release dates. It is tough to do pre-orders on books when you don't really know when stuff is going to be out.

So far, my customers have been really cool about this and it hasn't been a real problem. Still have to tell them, "Don't got it yet."
