Yeah! Write it!::ARISE::
So re-reading A Wizard of Earthsea -- being inspirations and foundational for my own first novel -- has me hankering to get back to my long stalled sequel.
That's great. COngrats!Yeah! Write it!
For the last two years I've been getting back into short fiction writing with the goal of getting one story published in a literary magazine before I turn 40 this month.
Well I wound up getting 5 published and 6 accepted!
It's been very encouraging and gratifying. I made a website to collect my work together as well:

BreakstoneLit - Written Work
I have always been a writer; my parents still have a book I "wrote" as a 3-year-old (a thrilling tale of a mud monster), and I wrote stories throughout school and college. Over the last few years I've worked on publishing my stories in literary magazines. These are the results. It's miraculous towww.breakstonelit.com
This summer I'm on break (I'm an elementary school teacher) and I've been trying to write for a few hours every day. I'm working on a short story now about a family that has a world tree growing in their backyard, but it's rotten through and has to be cut down.
I expanded my short story into a novella but I haven't given it the second pass over to fix the issues my beta reader foundI did a picture of a world tree 20+ years ago.
I have a short story, could easily be expanded into a novel, on my dtrpg store, I have thought of writing more.
I have some four star ratings, like a hundred downloads, I feel like I should write other short stories until one becomes a hit.I expanded my short story into a novella but I haven't given it the second pass over to fix the issues my beta reader found![]()
Writing more is always the right thing to do!I have some four star ratings, like a hundred downloads, I feel like I should write other short stories until one becomes a hit.
You are right, that is what I should be doing. I have heard it is like an addiction, and I think I could feel the pull maybe.Writing more is always the right thing to do!
Since I started tracking submissions in October of 2023, I have submitted stories to literary magazines 123 times, received 66 rejections and 6 acceptances. 8 stories I've sent out have yet to be accepted anywhere.
