Fiendish and Celestial Humans?

You can apply Fiendish and Celestial templates to humans right? They'd just be humans from another plane? Would they be outsiders or humanoids?

There isn't any limitations for these templates other then their respective alignment issues and the fact that the base creature must be corporeal.

Beasts and animals become magical, but others remain unchanged.

the half celestial/Fiendish templates change the creature into outsiders.

Levels are counted as HD right? Or are just racial HD counted?

I wanted to create a human fighter with DR and some resistances, fiendish template seemed nice.
