Rage? A minor damage boost and resistance to damage for a few combats a day?
If that's your take on rage I don't think you are playing barbarians enough. Resistance makes barbarians a tanking god, I have routinely seen barbarian players throw themselves into the pits of hell and survive things they had no business surviving. I am continuously surprised at how bad the barb might look on paper, but in play are one of the best classes, I have never had a player play one and been disappointed.

The trick with the barb is that rage doesn't really improve their offense like it did back in the day, that is what reckless attack is for. Advantage on any attack you wants means you crit often, and hit even more so.
 




The core issue is that martial classes are glorified weed wackers instead of skilled combatants
We should have both.

Some people like to play a weed wacker. And we should have a class for them to play.

Champion is the most popular sub-class.

Having 3 different colors of weed wackers is not needed though.

Fighter- simple
Barbarian- moderate
Monk- complex

How about:
Wizard - Simple
Monk, Barbarian - Moderate
Fighter - Complex

Because, again, real combat is quite complex.
