Final Fantasy D20 Stuff, yet again...

I always thought of the Tellah "forgetfulness" as a unique trait of his and not tied to a class.

In D&D type terms, I'd say he was cursed with a very specific Wish spell that was dispelled by the massively powerful positive energy released by Cecil's father when Cecil became a paladin.

IMHO a good method to avoid making an extra mechanic.

In the Japanese version he had a 'remember'-ish command that would cast a random spell from his repetoire at maximum capacity. Tellah retained that "class feature" even after he got his forgotten spells back on Mt Ordeals.

I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't want to play a Tellah, but being able to emulate him more through an origin-feat/telent kind of deal, or a character flaw kind of thing, or a powerful wish-level curse, or through some kind of natural ageing mechanic will appeal to someone...

That said, I think that SylverFlame's idea of keeping Tellah's wonky memory more or less unique might be the best way to do things. It definately seems better than drawing up universal random spell tables for a 'remember' class ability...

Here is a fully revised chart up to this point, and a craptastic graphic I threw together in a minute to act as the cover for the current run.

Terra Magic Warrior
Locke Adventurer
Edgar Machinery
Sabin Monk
Shadow Assassin
Cyan Samurai
Gau Wild Boy
Celes Rune Knight
Mog Moglie
Setzer Gambler
Strago Blue Mage
Relm Pictomancer
Gogo Mimic
Umaro Snow Man
Banon Priest

Leo Great General
Biggs Imperial Soldier
Wedge Imperial Soldier

I just found this list, thought it was interesting.

One thing to note is that sages typically had fewer spells/day or MP than more 'pure' casters, in exchange for a wider selection of spells. If memory serves from playing FFIIIj my sage near the end had something like 3-4 9th levels per day, which could be any White/Black/Summon spell, while my White Wizzard had more like 6 or 7..

So Tellah had only 90 MP max simply because of hit job based limit, at least that was always my assumption. FoSaYa also was limited to around 200 MP max no matter how much you level him up. Whitle Rosa and Rydia could easily get much higher.

Very true, Tellah alway had 90 mp, and FuSoYa alway had 190 mp, regardless of level.

Would we represent that by giving them a low number of spells per day (like 1 or 2 per level) and halving their bonus spells from ability scores? Maybe basing their casting on the average of two ability scores?

Progress?

So, Creamsteak, how are these classes coming along? I have read your other incarnations, and am really looking forward to this one. Once you get them finished, I can offer feedback (if you want it).

Basically, I am impatient, and feel like a good message board berating might get things going. :D

School's still got me nailed down. Spring break is coming up, which may or may not be a good time for this and a bunch of other projects I'm working on. I won't go into details (complaints) about being too occupied at the moment, because I'm pretty sure everyone knows what that's like.

Though, technically, I should have been able to punch up 6 rough drafts by now.
