Final Fantasy XI beta!

Indeed. Bounced around between Square-Enix's general help number ant the PlayOnline number today. Problem being SECA was in charge of making sure everyone had all the Hardware, and the're not sure who I need to talk to for the codes..

Ugh and ugh. Maybe a prompt email could get something done. I'll take a look through what I have here and see if I can get a phone number or some other contact info that may help you. I'm sure they are as concerned with getting you online to test their equipment as you are to do it. :)

As for my experience so far, I spent a good amount of time installing and setting everything up. The patch downloads took a little while and I was kinda shocked that FFXI has to install to the HD before you can play it. It was a 40 minute install wait as well. I haven't even gotten a chance to play the game yet. I screwed around with PlayOnline for a few minutes just to test the connection and it seemed to work. I'm going to go out an grab a USB keyboard tonight on my break because the onscreen keyboard was driving me nuts!!! It is in use ALL THE TIME. God, I swear that is why it took so long to set everything up.

But that said, the experience has been basically painless. When this goes live, the general public should have no time using it.

Either way, Destil, I'll try and do what I can on my end and good luck trying to resolve things. :)

Destil, are you having any luck so far? I hope so because this game is hella-fun and it would be cool to meet up with an ENworlder in the game. That is if we can get on the same server.... ;)

Indeed. Last week I was told to mail in the blank code card to their support center. Yesterday afternoon I got a call from PlayOnline telling me that the're mailing a new one out. So hopefully I can start sometime next week....

Well... start patching, at least. Damn Dial-up. ;)

Dial-up? *shivers*

Man, it's gonna take forever to get moving on that first patch. I suggest setting it up before going to bed and just letting it go overnight so you aren't just sitting there. They actually just added a new patch so I don't know if that will increase the time or not. It was about a 10 minutes download.

The initial patch of PlayOnline took around 40 min... Yeah, I highly suspect the first patch will be a over night job. It's a real shame that I'll be tying up the PS2 patching, though... otherwise I'd just play Grandia II while I wait. :(

Yep. Looks like Cactuar is indeed the only server at the moment. After a reletivly short patch (just 1 1/2 hours) I managed to make a 1st level red mage named Destil and start running around little.

Very cool. Ah, what country are you in? I should have mentioned that I'm in Bastok. Playing a female theif name Kaydi. If you aren't in Bastok I'm getting up there in level and will be able to travel soon. :)
