Finally getting caught up in d20 Modern via CyberPunk

Hmm I saw Digital Burn in one of my FLGS, but it was £27.99 for what appeared to be a hard bound pamphlet, it made the WotC books near it look like bargin bin prices. Okay maybe not that bad but it was about half as thick as say Traps of Treachery which was the same price, plus the illustrations were just appeared to be photos of goths around town.

Now you tell me it doesn't really have enough info to run a Cyberpunk campaign... well it will be moving way down my priority purchase list (if I had a list).

BagPuss - it's not QUITE as thin as it looks, at 150 pages, but it -is- skeletal and it is DEFINITELY expensive for what you get.

Out of curiousity, how compatible is it with other systems?

After my fantasy games over, I'm planning on mixing together blood in space and Four Colour to Fantasy. I'd really like to include a heavy Cyberpunk element to the mix, but I need something that's easy to work in.

And if you ever need a playtester...

Hi HellHound!

I don't know abotu Material wise. I think you will have a tough time contending with NytFlyr, who still has a lot of things in his bottom drawer. I saw Ocelot a while back and he said he might be joining the writing side again...

I bet whoever is running Edgerunner (Hmm... I guess that would be me, sigh). I would be interested in joining, but I fear that if it were would be more of to do with layout design then anything else.... I am pretty busy working on Apo-Stasis... Or I should be at least :P

I bought Digital Burn for the images, as well as being a cyberpunk book. I got the distinct impression that it was a modified interlock rule set with the D20 rule set grafted over. I also got the impression that ther was meant to be a background world, but it got dumped. Most likely for being late, deadlines wait for no man. I also noticed tha the colors in the print run were off to the paper quality. The paper is similar to what is used in Newsweek for instance.

Not to be dissin' my choombattas in the CyberPunk scene, but last I checked (admittedly a year ago) I had quite a lot more material on my site than NytFlyr (who I haven't spoken to in AGES... should drop him a line), and still more than Ocelot (although it would be GREAT to see him back in the swing of CyberPunk - Gary is a fantastic source of all things RPG).

AngelTears - are you Lauri? Didn't know you posted here!

For layout, I'm already pretty strong (have you seen my e-products released under Ambient Inc.?) - got honourable mention for best layout and design on Gar'Udok.

Agreed that the background world REALLY seems to have been edited out of the Digital Burn book. There are hints of it, and a very thin chapter about it, but it really has maybe half the skeletal strength of the old Interlock CyberPunk 2013 edition... And yes, the paper is IRRITATINGLY thin.

Right now I am in the process of finishing off "Three Arrows for the King", but as soon as it is done, I'll be rushing into the Digital Burn conversions. Here's hoping that LivingRoom Games likes my proposal!

Well Gary Astleford (aka Ocelot) as far as I know is married and seems to have moved on. But I did get to speak to him a few months ago and he seemed to interested... But i don't know what his life is like at the moment, so I won't comment any more.

Paul Romine (aka NytFlyr) is very quitely working on a half a dozen conversions source material. But like a lot of people his gaming and hobby life is being eaten by work.

Arguing who has the most material out is really a pissing contest.

Indeed I am. I am actually flattered you even know who I am.

No I haven't. Mind giving a URL or do they cost? In which case since I don't have a credit card...

Luckily the covers are mpressively thick. The binding is also strange since it is unbelievably strong. I mean I like having a book that stays open on the table, but it is strange. I think there might have been a mix-up at some point.

Most likely. They seem to be a very open group of people. I ended up talking with their CFO at one point when I was thinking on ordering their book. A friend while visitng Boston bought me a copy.

P.S. Ask Living Room Games did they like Jin-Roh or Panzercops ;)

I noticed the Panzercops stuff in the book... two photos had photoshopped Panzercops in them (for some reason I love hte Panzercops... might have something to do with the name of the unit in the comics or something).

Of course I recognize your name, we've talked in the past on a few chat servers about me bringing Netrunner zine to Origins and GenCon in the US this year (which is still a totally open offer).

As for my products, yeah, they have a price tag. I sold out and am writing game material for money now. Thus the death of the BlackHammer CyberPunk Project. Send me your email address, and I'll send you a piece or two of my work. You can also download my free award-winning book, Portable Hole Full of Beer from RPGnow (it's in the free products section there).

Well both PanzerCops and Jin-Roh are done by Oshii Mamoru, who is one one of my favourite directors (and is currently working on Ghost In the Shell 2).

Well, at the moment Edgerunner is in as a nomination in Origins... which is nice.

Nothing wrong with selling out to the Gaming Industry. I could think of worse things you could be doing. *thinks a bit and decides not to comment further*

You have the layout work down ( I sent one of my infamous nitpick mail already) and the writing is far better then I can ever attempt for (I know, since I have been striving for a long while to build up a similar style).

So, all I can wish for you is good luck with your venture. May it be as fruitful as adventurous.
