Finally got the new Ravenloft.

It inserted well into my ongoing Eberron game, so I'm using it immediatly.

Lemme guess. It's in Karrnath. :)

I'm undecided on the Delve format, on one hand everything is there, but it also seems like a lot of wasted space. Hopefully not every encounter in every adventure needs a Tactical Spread, or the page counts will be horrible. I'd also have liked references for some of the monsters as to where they may have originally appeared, or if they're original to the adventure.

The WotC policy provided to freelancers says every encounter gets a tactical spread if at all possible. It's a little weird for the minor encounters, honestly.

Out of curiosity... how well does Expedition to Castle Ravenloft work with the Sword and Sorcery Studio/Arthaus 3.0/3.5 Ravenloft stuff?
It's got no relation really. Sure you could use the stuff the same as in any horror game, but it's not the Domain of Dread and doesn't reference other material.

I have to say I feel differently. Yes, it doesn't mention the Ravenloft setting, but neither did I6. Strahd still controls entry and egress from these lands, it is still a very "modular" land, and several of the new NPC's scream for Arthaus feats and PrC's to be added to them.

I think I will have fun "refitting" this to fit Arthaus' Ravenloft setting. Even so, just drop it in as is and add fear and taint checks (Arthaus style, even though WOTC's versions will work fine) plus the insanity checks and you can pretty much run it as is. However it will be a lot more fun adding a few ideas from the Arthaus books.

Well, what I mean is, sure you can get use out of stuff from the Arthaus books, or from Heroes of Horror, but not because it's "Ravenloft", but simply because it's basically horror. Nothing really ties the settings togethor, though I'm sure you can fit it into the DoD easy enough, just like you can fit it in Greyhawk or anywhere else. I found the quality of the Arthaus stuff very erratic, so I stopped buying them and put them away years ago, so I can't get too specific.

The biggest difference to the RL setting (any version) is in the Vistani.

I guess that's more of what I was wondering - I'm sure I can use the Heroes of Horror/Arthaus stuff with the module/mini-campaign, but I was wondering how much contradictory or overlapping game mechanics there are.

Nope, the castle stands where Flamekeep will stand centuries in the future, after the mountains get leveled...

I believe Voncenoctum is talking about his own campaign, I am pretty sure that Karrnath is indeed the recommended location for Castle Ravenloft in Eberron according to the book.

From what I rememebr, the location is on the edge of Karrnath. Can't remember which edge, and don't want to embarass myself by guessing!

Expedition to Castle Ravenloft is great. I haven't been this enthusiastic over a WotC product for a long time. Making the encounter maps available would be the icing on the cake.

The only problem is that its for levels 6 to 10 - exactly the same as the excellent Red Hand of Doom, which I finally got round to buying last month and was intending to feature in the next campaign I run.
