Goeth:

Goeth waits to take his cue from his brother.

[sblock=OOC]
Ok, whatever Solon does next turn, you'll do Aid Another. You can post a d20 roll and I'll add the skill mod, or I'll just roll it for you if he posts before you get a chance.
[/sblock]

Callen:

You pause to call to mind your magical powers and see if any of them could be of help. Summoning a Freezing Cloud would obviously be of great use, but you can only use it once, and your more common powers are better for creating fire than fighting it. You ruminate on what you know of magical fire to see if it suggests a unique approach... hotter than normal fires, but briefer... heat, fuel, and air: magic provides the spark that starts them, and they do not need fuel to burn... the hottest are channeled directly from Elemental Fire, but you see no evidence of that here, this is clearly a mundane fire (if large)...

Nope, nothing strikes you immediately.

[sblock=OOC]
Sorry, since you're Level 2, you're part of Challenge 2, so your DC is 13. Man, you're not rolling well!
[/sblock]

Gallindan:

As the water pours into the fire, a great cloud of steam rises into the air. Your innovation draws applause from the weary bucket brigade as it moves water more easily than they good, giving them a much needed chance to rest.

[sblock=OOC]
It's too bad I'd already described the fountain as having a fish head, because this really calls for a pun about inventing the "fire hydra".

I'm going to keep your Invisible Castle roll of 11. That could be Arcana since you used a cantrip to do the work, or Dungeoneering to plan and erect the structure (since it sounds like Engineering...) Either way, that's enough for a Success.

Mri'Thas:

[sblock=Arcana result]
You recognize the symbol on the chest as the mark of a magic shop which used to stand in this part of town, famed for the quality and uniqueness of its eldritch goods. It sold items that were unlike any seen elsewhere in the Shifting Seas, and nobody ever figured out where they were imported from. However, the shop has been closed for twenty years and more after the proprieter vanished, and this chest looks brand new.

You sense a faint flickering of magic within the chest, partly blocked by the thick oak wood - there's definitely something in there, but you can't tell how strong the enchantment is or if its dangerous.
[/sblock]

Pulling your attention away from the chest for the moment, you see that Gallindan's setup has left a lot of workers idle. Hearing your shout, one of them yells, Good idea! They're digging the foundations to a new building a fw streets back - lots of earth and tools there, and I think we can reach it safely now that the fire on this side has been contained!"

The man is right - the fire for a block around the Hanged Man seems to be well contained now. To continue to be of use, you'll have to move into the farther streets where it still burns dangerously.

[sblock=OOC]
This is a Success.

"Everyone, quickly now! To the dig site! Work together, as quickly as possible, we'll beat this fire yet! Bring your buckets!" Solon leads the way towards the dig site, looking for the mounds of fresh earth to be used in fighting the fire as well as tools to move it.
[sblock=OOC]Diplomacy roll to inspire the bucket brigade to keep up the effort: 1d20 + 7 = 18[/sblock]

Kama'zer shoves the chest of gold over to the two chained slave women which she rescued. "Keep an eye on this for me and I'll share it with you to help get you back on your feet. If anybody else bothers you, just bash them with your chains." Kama'zer says with a grin.

Standing again, she looks to the building which the woman pointed out as having a Gith remaining in the basement. Seeing people come bursting out of the celler door, she notices how the building trembles as if about to collapse. She runs towards it to render her aid. Reaching the doorway to the building she sees that the people are already evacuating. Many are coming up the smoke filled stairs, some carrying children or injured people. Suddenly, a crack is heard that makes the gith woman jump. The lintel beam above the door snapped and the weight of the wall is already causing it to sag and buckle. With no thought to herself, Kama'zer steps up and reaches high to hold up the door frame so that it doesn't collapse before all the people are able to get out. She'll make what room she can for people to get around her, but once she is braced in place if they have to crawl between her legs to escape then that is what they will have to do.

Athletics check (1d20+9=28) Or if you think Endurance is more appropriate, it would be 2 less than that for a 26.

[sblock=OOC]Is the fire now out (or close enough to safely move to the next area) in the main square where Galinndan poured water on the fire?[/sblock]

OOC: I've had a PM asking about this event, which went past unnoticed:

"Thank 'e kindly, Gith," bows the mother. "Did ya know, one of yar kind lives here? Don't speak much, so I donno he name, but he lives beneath there, and I've not seen him come out." She points to a cellar entrance ringed by flames.

Is it still possible to rescue the gith?

The fire in this building has burned itself out - the upper floors are now a hollow, blackened shell, and mounds of debris surround the cellar door. The remaining framework sways unsteadily and looks like it could come down at any moment. The cellar is probably intact beneath that, but the fire would have turned it into an oven.

However, nobody has spotten anyone (Gith or otherwise) coming out of the cellar. If anyone was left inside, they may still be alive but badly injured.

In short, it's still possible to rescue the Gith (assuming he's even in there), and yes, saving a life in this way counts as a success in the challenge.

Could Kama'zers last action above be directed at that building to help any others that would be in on trying to rescue the Gith? She would have been happy to help rescue a fellow Gith but I didn't see the above info. If not, that's okay too since we're fairly close to the end of the skill challenge.

Solon and Goeth:

About half the former bucket brigade forms up behind you and follows at a run, while the remainder continue to divert water toward another street. "Well done!" you hear them cry, and, "Follow those two - they know what they're doing!" A few of them even seem to be cheering Goeth on.

You round a corner to see the building site - really just a vacant lot, with a large pit dug to begin the basement. Wheelbarrows and tools are scattered around a large pile of freshly turned earth. Your helpers fall to and begin loading earth into wheelbarrows and hauling it towards the fire.

You notice that a few of the people who were following you have not arrived, and you look behind to make sure that they aren't in danger, just in time to spot one - an elf - disappearing into an empty building. Your first thought is that he's spotted some victims that you missed and bravely gone in to resuce them, but then you see his companion - a dwarf - standing in the street below the window, arms outstretched. The elf reappears and tosses down a silver candlestick and a finely crafted, brightly lacquered fiddle, which the dwarf stuffs into a sack. Looters!

[sblock=OOC]
Goeth passes his Aid Another check with flying colours, giving Solon a total of 20. That's a Success.

Also, Solon and Goeth have started to become known and respected in the area for the efforts, which counteracts some of the prejudics against Goeth. I'll give more details at the end of the adventure.

Kama'zer:

You look towards the building which the woman pointed out as housing one of your kinsmen, just as the cellar door creaks open and a cluster of people comes tumbling out, coughing and gasping. They must have found a safe pocket to shelter from the fire. Suddenly the ravaged hulk of the building gives a mighty groan and timbers begin to fall! You wedge yourself into the doorframe to prevent the collapse, but you can't hold out forever and you can still hear cries coming from inside!

Sure - I've responded as if, instead of a building that's still burning, it's a burnt-out hulk that's about to collapse. You might want to edit your text slightly to match, but it still fits pretty well.

I'll call this Endurance, which is still a Success.

Also, you'll gain a small XP reward for roleplaying your char, for sharing the treasure you found with the prisoners.

Solon and Goeth are two blocks from the Hanged Man, at the edge of the area that's still burning, and can't see what's going on in the main square.

Everybody else is in the main square, and can't see what's going on in the burning alleys. Kama'zer is holding up the doorframe of a collapsing building.

After pausing just long enough to pick up the thunderstones she noticed, Solitaire races down the street to where the fire still rages. She's not at her best when charging into hot flames, so she looks for ways to be of assistance without actually entering the blaze.

She finds it with a family trapped in the third story of a house, hanging out the window and screaming for help. The fire has caught through other parts of the house, but has not yet reached them.

Solitaire attempts to scale the building, using exposed framing beams as hand- and footholds.
