Hi folks. I have a game coming up on saturday and I've got some questions on how to run a Fire Elemental's burn ability.
An elder fire elemental deals 2d8+6 points of bludgeoning damage and 2d8 points of fire damage on a successful strike. It also sets the target on fire unless a reflex save DC26 is made. That target burns for 1d4 rounds unless (s)he makes a successful reflex save or spends a MEA putting it out.
Per the DMG, a character who's "on fire" takes 1d6 points of damage per round and puts the fire out on a reflex DC15 save or with a MEA.
My main question is, do I use the DMG rule's numbers for getting set on fire, or do the elemental's higher numbers supercede the standard burn rules?
I.E. a character set on fire by an elder elemental takes 2d8 points of fire damage (the amount of fire damage it does if it hits the character) per round and extinguishes it on a DC26 reflex save instead of the smaller damage and easier save.
My other question (and this might be in the books somewhere) is whether or not a character who spends the MEA to extinguish himself provokes an attack of opportunity.
Thanks in advance for any help.
