[Fireborn] new game starting and I need help please!

I'm needing some help. I have five interested persons wanting to play a game of this really cool game. I have the free GM book preview, and it helps a little bit, but this game is different than anything else I have ever run. I am having a difficult time coming up with a way to begin the game to get the group together.

The selected backgrounds for the scions are: ex-Military, Athlete (football player), Cop, Cat Burgler, and Mystic. They are pretty far varyied and this is a little overwhelming for someone used to running D&D most of the time.

Does anybody have any suggestions in getting the game started, beyond getting the GM book (which I know I will need but right now I lack the necessary $$$$ to get the book)? I need to begin the game with something to get the group together, and something that will bring the new realities of the world to life.

Any help would be great.

I've only read a short preview and a few tidbits online, so I can't offer you any detailed advice. However, one idea might be to have them all be on a train/bus/plane. The vehicle is about to crash, but right before it does, the PCs all have their first flashbacks to they Mythic Age. Do a short adventure there and then when you come back, the PCs are the only survivors of the crash and they recognize each other as brood mates, or whatever the game calls them.

Thank you Starman, that is a good idea and I shall have to use it during the first session or two at some point.

Not a problem. I always found getting a group together at the start of an adventure/campaign one of the most difficult parts. Maybe that's because the group I game with rarely can come up with a reason to be together. It means I'm always brainstorming creative ways to do it. You know, other than, "You're all sitting in a tavern when..."
