I'd like to first say that I love the idea of Firefly as an RPG. It could work but would take a great deal of filling in the blanks. I'm in the process of creating a sci-fi homebrew influenced by Firefly and Farscape (in spirit mostly) so I'll be paying attention to threads like this to see what others have come up with. :D

Isn't Mal's Charisma a tad low for being the captain? He always seemed like a natural leader to me. I would have given him a higher score than that (at least a 16).

I know how time consuming statting out a fictional character is, so I commend you on the above work. :D

Funny you should mention that. After seeing Buffy, I've been toying with the idea of using unisystem for a Firefly-like game.

Seriously - it's very easy to port the Firefly universe and characters into a Traveller game. So easy in fact, that I have to wonder if Joss Whedon plays or not.

I'll have to pick that up one of these days...

Joss probably doesn't have time for RPG's these days but it wouldn't surprise me if he played in his youth. :)
 

I am just surprised that someone could stomach that show, nevertheless want to play in that world.

I tried to like it. I really did.

I agree with a previous poster though.... Traveller T20 is the route if you wanted to recreate it.

We gamers have iron stomach (from eating all those junk food and caffeinated drinks during game session). :D

I like the show. It is a good example of portraying the Traveller universe, albeit one aspect.

Of course, while I like Firefly, I cannot stand that Canuck-produced Starhunter TV series.
