As I've been sitting on it, I'm concerned with the Mal/Inara and Kaylee/Simon pairings. With no ability to effectively move in any direction, those relationships could become stale banter very fast.

So they do what long-running dramas do: Introduce other characters to tempt one or both party members.

Look at Mando. 25-30 minute episodes and that includes 10 minutes of slow walk.

I forgot about the Mandolorian animated series.

Compared to Disney+ (131M subs), yes, Hulu is trailing (64M subs).

So, only "struggling" in the sense that they have more subscribers than many nations have residents.

What is interesting also is that Hulu is seemingly doing very well with subscribers in the US (Currently ranked 3rd) but lags behind Amazon and Disney+ worldwide.

Because Disney+ in the rest of the world includes Hulu content. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison.

I, at least, have already come up with a couple of ways to get Wash back that I personally wouldn't hate, doesn't violate any current canon, doesn't involve time-travel hijinks, and might actually build story.

Given that, as I recall, the crew didn't have Wash's body? Yeah, he shows up some time later with a bunch of cybernetic organs to replace what got obliterated, and his behavior a little... off (which is totally in Tudyk's wheelhouse) and you're off to the races.

I wouldn't mind an arc that showed Simon as a growing criminal mastermind. Everyone focuses on his sister, forgetting that he is, in fact, a certifiable genius himself...

Aside from Wash, I felt that River’s storyline is pretty played out (not to mention not “the kid” anymore).

I feel a revival would be better with an at least partially new cast.
