Thoughts, ideas comments??

I would work on this for free if someone got the license for this show...

Man, I want this setting.

Naughty Hal, turning blog posts into ENWorld posts.

Anyhoo, I concur. A Firefly RPG setting book for d20 Modern/Future would be a joyous thing. d20 Future should give you everything you need for the basics, but setting-specific weapons, equipment, advanced classes, etc. would make this book well worth it.

Oh, to be only a simple unfrozen caveman freelancer, with no influence over company licensing conditions.

While the show was excellent, I'm not sure there is really enough to warrant an RPG

The show in and of itself didn't present a whole lot to use at first viewing. But if you take a few minutes, you start seeing a lot of material good for an RPG. Interstellar smuggling and a tyrranical interplentary government. Medical experimentation and the early stages of credible psychic powers. A star-spanning underworld. And best of all, there's a back story of a rebellion and war reminiscent of the Wing Commander computer game series.

There's plenty to put together at least a couple sourcebooks and a stack of adventures.

But there isn't enough defined. Who ever would write it has a lot of blanks to fill in. And there is nothing in the above that couldn't be done with many of the other space games (d20 or not). So, there really doesn't seem to be a reason to base a whole new RPG on just this.

Now, if someone contacted Joss Wedon and he was willing to work with whomever and help fill in the blanks to bring it more alive that would be great.
