firefox help

Not a ENWorld problem exactly, but it only happens on ENWorld, so I thought I would ask if anyone had some ideas that might help point me in the right direction.

I normally/always use Firefox (7.0.1 is what i'm using now).
But for approx the past 2 weeks, when using Enworld firefox chokes mid-page load. Looking at the status bar, it's usually trying to load a facebook.com module or google ad domain name, etc.

However, I can use IE (8.0.6something) and Enworld works fine. So I know it's a Firefox thing but it doesn't happen with any other site that I use.

So I am slowly groing through the Firefox addons/modules and disabling them one by one to see if maybe one of them is causing the issue. But so far no luck (mind you, i've only gone through 1/5th of the addons so far).

But I thought I might as well drop a note in here in case anyone had any other ideas on what I should try (or if there is a specific module I should focus on in my disable-testing).

Thanks in advance.

I'm generally a Firefox user, and have not seen that problem.

I have seen several pages that present me with all the expected content, and then have adds that continue to load pretty much forever, but the browser doesn't choke.

Do you use McAfee antivirus and firewall software by any chance? I had some problems with McAfee's Firefox add on extensions (some of which Firefox 7 has now automatically disabled because of compatibility issues now), and getting rid of those extensions and plugins vastly improved my performance. That was happening to me on sites in addition to EN World though, so I'm just throwing it out there. Those McAfee add on extensions and plugins were good but they haven't worked right since Firefox 5.

no luck so with the suggestions, or the addons disabling which i was trying before. i'll try a firefox reinstall and then see how that goes.

in any case, just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions, it is appreciated.

Sometimes it is faster to disable all the add-ons and then test. That way if the problem still happens you know it isn't an add-on and can save the process of disabling them one by one. If it does work, then enable add-ons in small groups at a time until one of the groups causes the problem and then narrow in on the problem add-on in that group.
