Firefox - The fightingist, tootenist, shootenist, little browser that was.

I like Firefox. Sure, it's kind of a cheesy story, and badly dated now the the Russians are no longer the Communist Evil Empire and are instead a sorta-friendly, sorta-bad-but-in-a-bumbling-way kleptocracy. Also it was pretty bogus that Clint Eastwood's character would forget to think in Russian at just the most dramatic moment, but...

... wait. What? What's that you say? We're not talking about Firefox, the movie?

Oh. ::blush::

Wait. So how do I delete the history for my Firefox browser?

Going into internet settings and doing it that way doesn't seem to be working for me.

I just click on Tools | Options | Privacy | Clear All button

for some reason it slows down the load times for web pages.

I have both loaded, but I prefer IE as well. It's like Coke and Pepsi, pretty much the same thing, just comes down to personal taste.

I do think Firefox renders pages faster but I agree with you it's all about personal tastes. The major selling point for me is the amount of useful extensions there are for Firefox. Adblock is something I can't live without. I've actually gone to a site in IE and thought "When did they get all these ads on their site?" and suddenly remembered that I had just blocked them all in Firefox. And those aren't popups, those are any images on a page. I block all the ones from certain advertising people and never see them on any page I visit.

why?

or rather, to not be too understated ...

WHY?

Four reasons (in order, least to greatest):

1) I'm an ASP.net developer. Most things work fine in FireFox, but I have a much higher confidence in compatibility with IE.

2) There are a few differences between the way things are rendered in IE and FireFox. When I design stuff in raw HTML (usually gaming referrence), I know my target audience (my players) are too lazy/unconcerned/bullheaded to use anything besides what is native to their machine. I also dislike having alternate code in "hobby" webpages -- too much effort.

3) FireFox isn't compatible with Launchcast, the Internet radio I listen to. This really isn't as big of an issue, now, since Yahoo has released a player that works with Launchcast better than a browser does.

4) FireFox doesn't work with the pen on my tablet. So, I can't actually "type" anything in, if I've got it in tablet mode (it works as a laptop, too). This one is the big killer.

Oh, and I use Avant, which gives me most of what I like about FireFox.
