First commercial broadcast into space

Well, the first commercial ever to be sent into space has been broadcast. I'm sure you feel much safer knowing that aliens will know where to go if they need a job, an apartment, or a girlfriend.

Eh. Mankind has been broadcasting commercial messages into space for decades already. This "first" is more like the millionth. Sounds like a PR stunt thinly disguised as "space news".

Yeah. Stuff's been beaming out into space ever since we invented the radio. Maybe not intentional "beaming" but beaming nontheless.... And then came TV and we can send visual out with the audio that we'd been sending...

Heck, if there were any aliens out there, they're getting a kick out of the crap we send out their way, intentional or not....... Or else, they're waiting for the chance to nuke us out of our orbit.

The linked article is hysterical to me.

The compony, Deep Space Communications Network, deliberately aims their transmissions where there are no satellites - but also does not target either specific stars or defined points in space. So, people are paying money to have their message of whatever transmitted away from Earth. All these guys have to do is take their money and then broadcast the client's message, and not violate FCC regulations while doing so (so don't aim at a satellite). What a great scam!

I wish them much success in fleecing whoever pays for this dubious 'service'.
