First offical pic from Spider-man 3!!!

If he really is Venom (and I'm not holding my breath, whatever Kirsten Dunst says), I
imagine we're going the ultimate route, here.

Which I think would be a good way to go.

In the cartoon series, wasn't he an astronaut that accidentally picked up the symbiote in space or something like that?

Yep. They might go that angle, as its really easy to do quickly.

I do wonder how Venom's going to look, though, especially with Topher Grace there...I just can't see it right now. But, at this point, I trust them to get it right.

Well, if they go the astronaut route, they've already introduced John Jameson (J. Jonah's son, an astronaut). So there's an opening right there.

I've heard some unsubstantiated rumors (from Activision employees working on the next SpiderMan game) that Dunst is wrong and Venom is not in the movie. The rumor states that Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, and SandMan are in the movie.

As with all rumors, take that as you will. :)

As the resident iconoclastic Silver Age Comics fan, the pic hit me with a "WOW!" in a good way. Its nice to see Marvel scoring another "Done right" after all the wrongs. Now, if they could just manage it for another character...

See now you got my hopes up. I have allways been a fan of the Hobgoblin. I prefer him to the Green Goblin.

A friend of mine came up with this when he heard there would be a Spiderman 3:

Marvel hasn't really had many wrongs on film lately, IMO.
