first sesh 4e campaign

Got all three books early, thank you chapters book store!

Started a new campaign with four other guys, 2 regular and 2 new.

They chose to make:

rogue dragonborn

rogue cat-person (eladrin reskinned, using halfling racial feat tree)

cleric dwarf (worships the gawd of monsters)

warlord human

I was surprised they went so martial... they don't know anything about 4e really.

Had a great session running a heavily modified KOTS, and it looks like a good start to a long campaign!

The initial character creation was a bit of a pain though, no one else knew what anything meant. If I had some cards or photocopied sections of the powers out it would have gone a lot smoother. It's a lot of information to write down...

It will be interesting to see how this works out, with two strikers and two leaders. You may find the lack of a controller is a problem when you come to the encounters with large numbers of minions.

Well, the Dragonborn will probably be a good help with those minions when using his breath attack...

Lack of a defender might be a bigger problem, but then they do have a lot of healing around...

Bear in mind also that KotS is written for 5 PCs not 4.

Are you scaling down the opponents in any way? Otherwise you may well find you're heading for a TPK...!

And the rogues have that blinding daggers thing, its a close blast 3.

I didn't adjust the first encounter, by heavily modified I meant cosmeticly.

We have one more player coming, guess I'll hint that the party needs a wizard.

If he doesn't make it than yeah I guess I'll have to bench a few kobolds...
