D&D 4E Five Star Stories in 4e

I didn't know exactly where I should post this so if it's in the wrong forum I'm sorry, please move the thread if necessary.

I'm thinking of starting a campaign for just two players. We all love big story lines and fantastic magi-tech. I though of spinning a political plotline where "knights" were in fact an elite cadre of individuals who could pilot constructs similar to the MotorHeadds of Five Star Stories.

This also let me add two npc's to the party in the form of the fatimas. My thinking of the MotorHeadd is to just apply the elite monster template to the PC making it like a piece of equipment that provides the bonus' of the template. The requirement is that it requires the fatima to work, in addition the fatima adds their appropriate attribute bonus' to the pc when they work in tandem. I'm even considering allowing the pc to use one of the fatima's at wills as a per encounter. My thinking is that 99% of all fatima's are classes of the martial power source. It would make a great plot device if a pc wanted a special fatima and had to go out adventureing for the mad wizard/artificer who would create a non-standard version (which would probably be illegal or dangerous, perhaps both).

By adding the MotorHeadd to my campaign I figure the template and fatima bonus' would allow the party, just two pcs to be able to take on large creatures of higher level at a lower level. I'd probably construct the diffrent models as diffrent armor types and allow the pcs to enchant them as armor as well.

My players want to go from level 1 up and want a big story where their characters are important players from the go.

Are there any issues I'm going to run across?

Is adding the attribute bonus' of the fatima not good enough to counter the expected raise in monster lvl? Is it just too good?

I'll end up changing the name MotorHeadd to something, I'm just not sure what quite yet.

I'm looking for input on how I might be able to make this work for my players as they seem intrested, considering that their fatimas while having a personality won't outshine them because they have to obey them and are subserviant.

I think I'll create the fatima's just to prevent any potential min/max on the part of the players, besides I think it would be better if they had to "get to know" their partners.
