Fix the Revised Barbarian in four easy steps

Kai Lord

Hero
The new Barbarian is great, but it just isn't a Barbarian, like what we were used to in 1E Unearthed Arcana, the 2E Complete Fighter's Handbook, and Red Sonja. A few easy tweaks and everyone will be happy.

1. Go back to the +2 hit points per point of Con over 10 and +2 to AC per point of Dex over 10.

2. Give them all Ranger abilities and all Rogue abilities of their respective level when in natural terrain.

3. At 8th Level, whether they're 10 miles deep into the Underdark, or in a tiny lifeboat lost at sea, they can summon 8,000 like minded Barbarians that just show up, somehow.

4. All Barbarians must be named Conan, Thundarr, or Marc Singer or suffer a 20% XP penalty.

Ah, finally, a class everyone can agree on. Are you listening WOTC...?

No No No!

You forgot the most important parts: They aren't allowed to have spells cast on them until 3rd level, can't use magic items until 5th level, and have to kill every arcane spellcaster they meet until they reach 9th level, after which they can hang around with whoever they want.

At 20th level, barbarians get the "You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry" ability: Whenever they rage, they gain +20 strength and a +30 bonus to Jump checks, but they turn bright green, and all their clothes and armor are torn to shreds (except for their pants, which turn purple).

I thought it was retarded that the 3e barbarian was based on a d12. Puny d12! Everyone knows barbs roll d20s, heck its the "d20 system".

Fortunately its easy enough to make the changes:

1. Change HD to d20
2. Any 2-h weapon the barbarian uses does d20 damage
3. Rage: roll d20+4 and add that to your strength and con for d20+con modifier rounds.

Otherwise, the same as above.
